'Rock the Block' Season 7 Weekly Updates: Which Team Took Home the Win?

On April 13, Rock the Block headed to Las Vegas for its seventh season, pitting four teams against each other with a $275,000 budget to transform a 5,000-square-foot, single-story home outside the strip. Keep reading to see whose bets paid off and who wasn’t able to ante up.

May 25 Episode: Who Won Rock the Block Season 7?

For lucky week number seven, the only spaces left for the designers to transform were their exteriors, front lawns and courtyards. Then came the big appraisal. Ty put the teams to work right away, reminding each team to go add finishing touches to their entire house. Three appraisers would be evaluating the homes, but before they arrived, former Las Vegans Drew and Jonathan Scott stopped by to lend their expert opinions.

Mina and Vernon Work on Their Poker Faces

Mina and Vernon maintained their neutral, natural color scheme in the remaining spaces, carrying the Comfortable Elegance outside. Drew and Jonathan appreciated the work they'd done throughout their home, but they were concerned whether the design was a little safe and whether the RV garage’s income suite was something luxury buyers might actually want.

Scott and Brooke Bet the House

Scott and Brooke let their Modern Hacienda theme dictate the outdoor design — which included a stunning terra-cotta roof. After stepping into the kitchen, Drew and Jonathan understood instantly why Scott and Brooke snagged that week’s win. The brothers were extra impressed by the arches throughout the design, but the lack of backyard access from the RV garage concerned them.

Taniya and Drew Roll the Dice One Last Time

Just like in their speakeasy, Taniya and Drew went a darker route for their exterior (which ultimately set them apart from the pack, according to Drew and Jonathan). The brothers were impressed by the spaces’ Livable Luxury. “Everything feels a step above,” they said. Their biggest concern was the lack of privacy in the primary suite from week one — as Taniya and Drew chose to leave the windows untreated.

Kim and Chelsea Hit the Ultimate Jackpot

Coming off a win last week, Kim and Chelsea were ready to go all in on their outdoor spaces. The gas lanterns they chose for the entryway and courtyard, along with a unique terra-cotta fireplace in the courtyard, reinforced their home’s smoky sexiness. Drew and Jonathan appreciated all of Kim and Chelsea’s individual additions — the big banquette, the poker room, the layering of mirrors and windows in the primary bathroom — but they weren’t excited about the multi-gen suite and its drapery. In the end, Kim and Chelsea's bold design moves paid off: They added the most value to their home and Ty announced them as the winners of Rock the Block Season 7.

May 18 Episode: Babies Got Backyard

Welcome to the second-to-last week on the block: Week 6. Ty tasked the teams with bringing their A-game outside (specifically, to the backyard). But before they could get started, he had one last design surprise in store. Each duo had to play Russian roulette to determine which size pool they’d score out of the four available. No matter what, all were walking away with a water feature.

Mina and Vernon Feel the Dog Days

Mina and Vernon won the pool jackpot by scoring two identical round pools, which they made a central focus of their main backyard. To continue the added value of their RV-garage-turned-apartment, they fenced off the area behind it — originally a side yard — to create a separate outdoor living space. On the flip side, Mina had the idea to create a dog park (tested and approved by Jerry and Bobby, two of the construction crew’s pooches. Super Bowl champ and judge Danny Amendola was all for it, but docked the team points for lack of shade in the main backyard — which, unfortunately, cost them the touchdown.

Taniya and Drew’s Hot Tub Time Machine

After nabbing the only pool with spa jets, Taniya and Drew decided to base their backyard layout around it. They included key elements like an outdoor kitchen, a built-in double-sided fireplace and an outdoor shower, but their best idea was inspired by last week’s RV garage design. Because they weren’t able to use the hot tub they'd originally purchased for inside from the week prior, they used it to create another relaxation station in their backyard. Danny was impressed during judging by the luxe livability, but just like Mina and Vernon, shadeless areas docked them points.

Scott and Brooke Sink Instead of Swim

Scott and Brooke won a rectangular pool and the opportunity to install their chosen tile. Their backyard design featured chaise lounges, plants, an outdoor kitchen and a fire pit with a custom bench. They did a good job maximizing space in the patio off the main bedroom. Where they fell short, according to Danny, was in the sideyard, which featured turf and not much else. Budget was more important than ever, and this team felt their purse strings tighten.

Kim and Chelsea Are Too Cool for Pool

Kim and Chelsea snagged the largest pool available, which was right in line with their Palm Springs vibe for the week. They decked out their pool area chaises and umbrellas in red-and-white stripes, built a bocce ball court and dedicated an area to a banquet table topped by a pergola. Danny instantly identified the resort, high-end hotel feel Kim and Chelsea were going for, especially the size of the pool and the concrete finish used to unify the outdoor spaces. The former NFL player awarded them the win, which earned them $1,000 for their final appraisal.

May 11 Episode: Just the Essentials

For the designers’ fifth week on the block, Ty assigned a renovation of what he deemed the “essential spaces”: the office, laundry room and RV garage. The latter gave each team a chance to dream big — and they had to in order to fill the massive area.

Kim and Chelsea’s Spa-tacular Space

For their office, Kim and Chelsea removed the closet that limited their room’s square footage. Though this move decreased the room’s added value slightly (it can no longer be appraised as a bedroom), it created a roomy and masculine space to work. Their laundry area ticked all the boxes, but the RV garage was where Kim and Chelsea impressed Week 5 judge and Real Housewives of New York City alum Luann de Lesseps almost enough to earn another win.

Scott and Brooke Get the Ball Rolling

This week, Scott and Brooke separated from the pack in their office space by positioning it as a true bedroom, desk included. The built-in bunk beds limited the room’s flexibility, per Luann, but the team redeemed themselves in the laundry room with its bright colors and ample folding space. They put the most effort into the RV garage — by turning it into a sport court complete with a pickleball-adorned wall — and it gained them points for creativity but no win.

Taniya and Drew’s Wellness Wishes Come True

Coming off of last week’s win, Taniya and Drew were ready to infuse Livable Luxe into these three unique spaces. They planned a traditional office, but had a little fun in the laundry room by adding a dog spa (tested and approved by a crew member’s pooch, Penny). Their idea for the RV garage was similar to Kim and Chelsea’s, but they focused on the flexibility of their spa space by leaving the floor plan open. Luann was in heaven for the second time, but the specificity of some of the amenities (e.g., aerial silks and hoop) pushed them away from the win.

Mina and Vernon’s Lofty Goals Pay Off

Determined to win this week after no dough to show for the first four weeks, Mina and Vernon spent the majority of their time and budget in the RV garage. While Luann was impressed by their office and laundry room, she was blown away by their transformation of the garage into a functional apartment, complete with a loft, all hidden behind a secret gym entryway. The added value was off the charts and secured Mina and Vernon their first win and $3,000 to put toward next week’s design.

May 4 Episode: Multi-Generational Wealth

Ty gave the designers a break from the main house with Week’s 4 multi-gen suite with a required kitchenette. The teams imagined their spaces for different clients: short-term renters, film lovers, guests and studio apartment dwellers — and Ty’s design surprise helped them realize these dreams with added decor. Much to the surprise of all eight competitors, they were judging each other’s spaces, which resulted in some strong reactions.

Kim and Chelsea Make Home Movies

Sticking to their vintage vantage point, Kim and Chelsea decided to transform their suite into a home theater, complete with dramatic ceiling-to-wall drapery to set the mood. Instead of keeping it a separate space, they added value by connecting it to the main house via a door and including an induction cooktop perfect for popcorn. The “circus tent,” as Brooke called it, was a bold choice that didn’t score Kim or Chelsea the win.

Scott and Brooke’s Room for Rent

Coming off their second win, Scott and Brooke opted to focus on creating a space ideal for a short-term rental. They broke up their space by closing off a bedroom, but kept it warm and cozy with a built-in fireplace (courtesy of last week’s extra $3,000). While their fellow designers appreciated the full kitchen and wall-to-wall tiled bathroom, the overall lack of storage kept them from racking up a third win.

Mina and Vernon Bring Class, Not Sass

For their suite, Mina and Vernon had the same idea as Scott and Brooke, but they decided to put their own twist on it by keeping the layout open and giving it a studio apartment feel. Their big play was building out a full kitchen, and it was the first thing the other competitors noticed while judging. But even with an abundance of storage, the space wasn't as functional as it was intended to be.

Taniya and Drew Are the Best of the Guests

Instead of making the suite an entirely separate area, Taniya and Drew wanted to be the hosts with the most by establishing a place where everyone would want to stay. They made the bed the focal point of the room and added luxe touches like a feature wall and a handmade island. Their peers weren’t as enchanted by the smaller kitchen, but the whole hotel feel they walked away with clinched Taniya and Drew’s first win and $1,000 for their final appraisal.

April 27 Episode: Everything and the Kitchen Sink

For Week 3, Ty gives the designers an assignment they were all excited for: the kitchen and dining area. He didn't have any extra homework for them, so each team was able to focus on coming up with a winning strategy.

Taniya and Drew Just Keep Climbing

After last week’s upset, Taniya and Drew dusted themselves off and got ready to play to Taniya’s hospitality strengths in the kitchen and dining area. They opted for a soft-curve bar to top their island, which Love It or List It co-host, two-time RTB competitor and this week’s judge Page Turner greatly appreciated. Page also liked the detachable sliding ladder Taniya and Drew added to reach the upper kitchen cabinets. The duo's decision to create a walk-in pantry off of their second kitchen set them apart from the crowd, but it wasn’t enough to sway Page.

Mina and Vernon Create Safe Spaces

Continuing their value-added mindset, Mina and Vernon decided to design their food-focused areas to maximize their sellability. They planned a traditional kitchen and a full second kitchen in place of a pantry, but instead of a dining area, they chose to create a lounge area surrounded by built-in bookshelves perfect for game nights and relaxing with a good book. Despite their thinking outside of the box, Page thought the overall design was too safe.

Kim and Chelsea Put Money in the Banquette

After last week’s win, Kim and Chelsea elected to go big and go home. They continued their unique style throughout the spaces, with an iconic island to complement the poker room’s bar and a 1970s-style banquette that had Page feeling like she was in a restaurant. While the niche approach worked for them last week, it couldn’t secure them the win again.

Scott and Brooke’s Best Two Out of Three

Week one winners Scott and Brooke opted for going all in on an entertaining vibe, continuing their design approach from the great room and den. They took a risk with double islands, but they were the first thing Page was excited about when she stepped into the room. In fact, Page told the duo she felt like she was “in a magazine,” which boded well for Scott and Brooke and ultimately notched them another win and another $3,000 to put toward next week’s design.

April 20 Episode: Time for Some Great Room Service

After revamping their main suites, Ty challenged the teams to another (big!) trifecta: the great room, foyer and den. Lucky for the competitors, he didn't have tricks up his sleeve this week, so they could let their chips fall where they may.

Scott and Brooke Double Down on Design

Scott and Brooke’s game plan going into week two was to create gathering spaces, while keeping things open. With an extra $3,000 in their pockets from their week one win, Scott and Brooke opted to gamble big on transforming the den into a formal dining room, featuring an arched entry and soft drapes. Week two judge and two-time (!) RTB champ Michel Smith Boyd loved the space — though he wasn't impressed with their built-in wine rack. In the end, they couldn’t clinch a second win.

Mina and Vernon Shuffle Up Their Strategy

Continuing the theme of Comfortable Elegance, Mina and Vernon focused on brightening up the great room and adding a custom fireplace, arched built-in bookcases and beams to the ceiling for added value and aesthetic. However they saved their best ideas for the den: They enclosed the space in glass and installed a hidden closet, which will count as an added bedroom come appraisal time. The sheer brilliance of these choices put them close to the top.

Taniya and Drew Bet It All on Black

In week two, Taniya and Drew went all in on a surprise element: a speakeasy. Their den replacement looked like a glass-enclosed wine storage space, but pull the handle and you'll find yourself in a dark and mysterious hideaway complete with a bar and a black disco ball. Michel “felt transported into Casablanca,” but it wasn’t enough to secure his vote.

Kim and Chelsea for the Win

Smoky and sexy might have been their overall approach, but this week, Kim and Chelsea aimed for moody and masculine for their trio of living spaces. Their full-wall tiled hearth in the great room, with color-coordinated grout, combined with grasscloth wallpaper and wood paneling in their den-turned-poker-room wowed Michel. Instead of taking $3,000 for next week’s design, the duo chose to add $1,000 to their final appraisal.

April 13 Episode: Home Suite Home

Host Ty Pennington welcomed HGTV pros — who are paired up with celebrities this time around — to the Sin City Block and dealt them a strong first hand: the main suite, along with its accompanying bathroom and closet. Mid-reno, Ty invited the teams to a live show and gave them unique gifts that had to be used in their designs.

Mina and Vernon Throw Themselves a Curveball

Good Bones host and RTB alum Mina Starsiak Hawk and Super Bowl champ Vernon Davis decided on "Comfortable Elegance" as their design approach and definitely delivered on that in the primary bedroom, which turned out to be judges Lisa Vanderpump and Nick Alain’s favorite. They chose not to remove the rotunda that impacted the closet space (featuring their surprise item, indigo velvet fabric), which would ultimately knock them out of this week's race.

Taniya and Drew Get the Blues

Season 4 Battle on the Beach winner Taniya Nayak and 98 Degrees member Drew Lachey doubled down on "Livable Luxe" with a color-drenched bedroom featuring a velvety leopard-print headboard. Their closet size wowed the judges — as did the red Moroccan tile that Taniya and Drew were gifted and used in the vanity. And their bathroom was in the running to win them the pot. Unfortunately, their bold choice of an all-blue bedroom was dubbed overwhelming and cost them the weekly win.

Kim and Chelsea Find It Ain’t Easy Being Green

Why the Heck Did I Buy This House? host Kim Wolfe and fellow Survivor alum/bestie Chelsea Meissner picked a theme perfect for the locale: smoky sexy. They infused each room with their signature style, including a curved headboard wall in the bedroom and floor-to-ceiling chartreuse wallpaper in the closet. While their “bold choices might not be for everybody,” according to Lisa, the judges loved the unique installation in the bedroom and the marquee lights — Ty’s gift — in the closet.

Scott and Brooke Clear the Board

Vacation House Rules and Renovation Resort Showdown veteran Scott McGillivray joined forces with reality star Brooke Hogan to build their Sin City sanctuary. After agreeing on a Modern Hacienda vibe, they set to work on identifying opportunities for the most added-value impact, including a salt wall in the sauna and an open, glass-walled closet. The gold-leaf wallpaper that Ty gifted them helped their designs shine, bringing to light the main suite’s success. The sauna and closet proved to be the aces up their sleeves, with Lisa and Nick awarding them the win and $3,000 for next week’s challenge.
