Real estate guru Egypt Sherrod and her builder-contractor husband Mike Jackson (Married to Real Estate) know how to add value to a house — their winning season 3 Rock the Block design proves it.

They also know how to add major style.

In the season 3 Rock the Block finale, Egypt and Mike pulled off a show-stopping renovation on the third floor, successfully transforming the blank-slate bonus room into an at-home theater complete with a full bathroom and a concession stand. Obviously, it’s no surprise the judges were wowed, but we think her special color drenching paint trick subtly secured the win.

What is Color Drenching?

Egypt used dark, dreamy gray-blue paint (Sherwin-Williams’ Cyberspace) on *not just the walls*, but on the trim and the ceiling. She even painted doors, door frames and vents! The all-encompassing paint job gives the space a special ambiance; a subtle, cozy feel that radiates through the room. In other words, it feels like a home-y safe haven.

Unsurprisingly, picking the right hue was key in pulling off this trick.

“[The paint color] has a blue undertone [so] it’s not gray, which is typical and boring, and it’s not black so you don’t feel shut in; it has some color,” Egypt said.

The best part about Egypt’s idea is that you can totally do-it-yourself at home. Try it in your own media room, a guest bedroom, a library or an at-home office. Use Cyberspace like Egypt, or opt for another dark gray or blue. We suggest Benjamin Moore’s Mysterious or Behr’s Indigo Ink.

Then, get to painting! Coat your ceiling, doors, trim and vents for a comfy look.

Egypt balanced out the bold walls with contemporary velvet chairs and a caramel leather sofa. To build dimension into the design, she added accents of white and cream with a rug, bistro table and throw pillows.

Of course, the entire look is oh-so stunning, and we’ll be keeping an eye out to see what Egypt and Mike do next.
