Storing workout equipment can be difficult. You don’t want to pack it away because then you won’t use it, but finding a place for all the odd shapes, sizes and colors can sometimes seem impossible — until now!

Materials Needed

  • 2’ -x- 4’ pegboard
  • (2) 1x2 x 22” pine boards
  • over-the-door hooks
  • 2-7/8” ceiling hooks
  • pencil
  • drill + bit
  • wood glue
  • (4) clamps
  • (4) felt pads
  • paint
  • painter's tape
  • assorted pegboard hardware + accessories

Hang It Up

Begin by placing over-the-door hooks on one of the 22-inch pieces of wood. Mark the spots where the hooks hit with a pencil. Turning the board on its edge, use a drill to drill holes at each mark but not fully through to the other side. Next, screw ceiling hooks into each of the holes. Glue and clamp the 22-inch boards to each of the 2-foot sides of the pegboard. Once the glue has dried, remove the clamps and place felt pads on the end of the boards.

Make It Yours

Now it’s time to personalize and paint the board to your liking! Use painter’s tape to create stripes or designs that are unique to you. Once the paint has dried, hang the pegboard over the door and add hooks and accessories to suit your needs. Hang jackets and yoga mats on hooks, and don’t forget to attach a chalkboard so you can keep track of your workouts.

Pro tip: Painted soup cans make excellent water bottle holders, and baskets are the perfect spot for those hard-to-hang-up items.
