Winter Pastels Are Here to Stay and We Couldn't be Happier

Millennial pink, mint green and lilac, oh my!

Typically, when it comes to decorating, my motto is neutrals above all else. My bedroom is full of gray, black and white with just a few gold and copper accents. Recently, however, I've become totally infatuated with pretty pastel shades, especially the pale pink that has been nicknamed "millennial pink" — and I'm definitely not the only one.

And sure, pastel hues have been a mainstay of spring and summer decorating for years, but it's only recently that they've started cropping up in winter home lines. Similarly, the shades have been winterfied in fashion, too. (It seems like every fashion blogger on Earth has been rocking a pale pink coat this year.) Clearly this means pastels are officially "in" for winter.

It's about time, too. The dreary weather seems to be screaming out for something to lighten it up, and pastels are certainly up for the job. Read on for 10 ways to bring pastels into your own home, and join the ranks of on-trend color lovers.

 1: Wall Color

Discover a unique color palette through the accessories in your home. Designer Fawn Galli's living room, with a pastel palette of pink and green, was inspired by a pair of ikat drapes from Cambodia.

Pale hues work particularly well on big walls because they add color without distracting from the room's decor or feeling harsh. This lovely mint green is a perfect choice for a stylish sitting area.

 2: Record Player

This velvet pink/purple record player is as sweet as the come, and trendy to boot!

 3: Bedding

Ahh, there's that beautiful "millenial pink" and in velvet no less! This luxe bedding set will keep you warm on even the coldest days without sacrificing an ounce of style.

 4: Stand Mixer

KitchenAid mixers are already decidedly on-trend, but add in a pretty pastel blue, and you'll have the trendiest kitchen on the block.

 5: Furniture

 6: Wall Art

If you're not ready to commit to painting your walls pastel, this mesmerizing wall art should do the trick.

 7: Faux Fur

Faux fur adds a glamorous edge to any room, especially when it's done in a pastel shade. And with throw pillows, rugs and even blankets on the market, the choices are endless.

 8: Storage

Your clutter will look exponentially cuter in this metallic, pastel-pink storage cart. As an added bonus, it's a near-perfect dupe for IKEA's famous Raskog cart.

 9: Color-Block Accessories

If you still crave a bit of neutral tones alongside your pastels, this trend is for you! Pairing blocks of pale colors alongside white or gray is the perfect way to have your cake and eat it too.

 10: Kitchen Appliances

While pale pink ovens may scream 1957 more than 2017, they're actually starting to pop up in modern homes. And for good reason — they add a much-needed dose of color and bring levity to the kitchen.
