Make a Soda Crate Table
Turn an old soda crate into a unique and completely customizable bedside table.
- vintage soda crate
- soft bristle brush
- modern furniture legs, 16"-18" tall, no more than 11" wide
- permanent marker
- drill and bit
- nuts and bolts, quantity depends on legs used
- 4 clear rubber stoppers
- 18"x24"x1/2" tempered glass tabletop
Clean the crate thoroughly with a soft bristle brush. Use a damp cloth and water with mild detergent if necessary to clean up excessive dirt.
Adding the Legs
Turn the crate upside down and position the legs where they will go. Use the holes in the mounting surface to mark the crate bottom (Image 1). Remove the legs temporarily and drill holes at the marks (Image 2). Use nuts and bolts to secure the legs to the crate (Image 3). Tip: You can find a variety of modern table legs at these sites.
Adding the Glass
With the legs securely fastened, turn the table over. Add rubber stoppers to each of the four corners (Image 1). Clean both sides of the glass and place it on top of the stoppers centered evenly over the crate (Image 2).
Leave the crate empty or personalize it by filling some of the openings with keepsakes or a personal collection.
