How to Make a Colorful Geo Suncatcher

Materials Needed

  • 12” embroidery hoop
  • tape measure
  • 15” x 15” clear contact paper
  • 15” x 15” clear cellophane sheet
  • sheets of light filters or colored transparencies
  • craft knife
  • cutting mat
  • ruler or straight edge
  • scissors
  • string

Step 1: Cut Triangles

Using a ruler or straight edge, cut small triangles in various sizes out of colorful light filters. 

Step 2: Create Design

Tape down a sheet of contact paper wtih the sticky side up. Add your triangles, making a design that mixes colors and sizes for added interest. 

Step 3: Cover + Smooth

Cover with cellophane and use your straight edge to smooth out any bubbles.

Step 4: Add to Embroidery Hoop

Add to your embroidery hoop, and be sure to tighten it.

Step 5: Trim + String

Trim away excess with a craft knife. Add string to the top, so you can hang your work of art. 

Step 6: Enjoy!
