Tools + Materials

  • floral scissors
  • foliage
  • damp cloth
  • heavy books
  • scrap paper
  • floating frames

Step 1: Find Foliage

Take a walk around the block. Bring your floral scissors. Even urban jungles have surprisingly interesting greenery. You’re looking for statement pieces. Keep in mind that you can always use your creativity to cut the foliage down in interesting ways to fit the size of your frames. Once you've selected your greenery, dampen a cloth or paper towel and gently wipe dirt from the leaves.

Step 2: Press Plants

Use heavy books to press plants. Place scrap paper between plants and books to absorb any moisture.

Step 3: Wait

Leave plants to press for about one week before removing.

Step 4: Frame

Place foliage flat in floating frames. Hang and enjoy!
