15 Eco-Friendly Pet Products We Love
Take responsible pet-parenting to the next level with these eco-friendly leashes, bowls, training pads, toys and more.
As someone who loves her dog and the planet, I want to choose products that will protect both of them. I've already switched to sulfate-free doggie shampoo and biodegradable waste bags, but that's really just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what's available. (Like recycled toys, sustainably sourced beds, bamboo grooming brushes, etc. The list goes on and on.)
So, with Earth Day coming up, I thought now would be the perfect time to try out something new. If you and your little buddy are eager to do the same, scroll on to shop my favorite eco-friendly pet supplies for cats and dogs.
Be a responsible pet parent by filling your waste bag dispenser with eco-friendly equipment. These plant-based rolls are extra-thick, leak-resistant and biodegradable, so they'll take care of business after your dog's done doing theirs. Each box contains 60 blush-colored rolls, so you won't have to restock for a little while.
Not only is this shampoo bar organic, but it's also much more eco-friendly than traditional pet soap that comes in plastic bottles. Refreshing peppermint and tea tree oil leave your pup smelling clean, while organic oils and aloe vera work to hydrate and cleanse their coat.
Wipe down your dog's paws or coat without adding to landfills by switching to these biodegradable grooming wipes. Each pack contains 70 wipes, and the formula is free of parabens, sulfates, alcohol, artificial colors and fragrances, and chemical detergents.
Now here's a natural kitty litter that you and your cat will both feel good about. Instead of masking offensive odors with harsh chemicals and perfumes, Feline Pine uses 100-percent natural and sustainably sourced sawdust shavings to absorb liquids and prevent them from spreading.
Staying connected to your pet can be sustainable and stylish with a leash like this. Made from locally sourced materials and marine-grade rope, this ombre leash can withstand hundreds of pounds of pull. You can even use the brass carabiners to clip the lead to your waist or secure it over your shoulder.
We're all for satisfying your cat's clawing instincts, especially if it's with a cardboard ramp. After your cat's worn out the incline, you can just pack the piece up and put it in the recycling. (And did we mention that the ramp comes with a package of catnip and a small toy for extra entertainment?)
Why waste plastic wrap when you could preserve your pet's food with silicone can covers? This pack contains two BPA- and phthalate-free can covers in pastel hues. You can put them to work throughout the week, then toss them in the dishwasher to reuse.
