I Tried Oprah's Favorite Sheets to See if They Lived Up to the Hype

Everyone knows Oprah loves gifting. From concert tickets and all-inclusive vacations to her unforgettable "You get a car!" moment, she's built a legacy around sharing the things she loves most. She's extended that spirit to all of us with Oprah's Favorite Things, her annual roundup of the products she adores so much that she wants the rest of us to experience them, too.

In 2018, Cozy Earth’s Bamboo Sheet Set earned a coveted spot on Oprah's list as her favorite sheets, and she's continued to feature the brand's sleep products nearly every year since. Kris Jenner has also raved about the brand's sheets, calling them "the softest sheets I have ever felt."

I'll admit, at first I was skeptical. I've never thought of sheets as anything more than a basic sleep necessity, and a fussy one at that. I'm a pretty hot sleeper, and I've kicked off a top sheet or skipped using one entirely more times than I'd like to admit. The idea that a luxury sheet set could completely change my sleep seemed like a stretch, but with such high praise, I decided to find out for myself.

What I Tested

I tested Cozy Earth's bestselling Bamboo Sheet Set in the color Creme to see if they were really as soft, breathable and luxurious as the brand — and Oprah —claim.

Cozy Earth's sheets are made from 100 percent viscose from bamboo, a material known for its cooling breathability and silky-soft feel. The brand touts its bamboo sheets as naturally temperature-regulating, with a durable weave and a luxurious texture that they claim gets softer with each wash.

The set includes a fitted sheet, a flat sheet and two pillowcases with envelope-style closure. Cozy Earth also includes a reusable tote bag for storing the sheets. The brand offers this sheet set in 13 neutral solids, including Driftwood, Light Grey, White, Oat, Charcoal, Pacific Blue, Shore, Dove Grey, Walnut, Peony, Laurel and Lavender.

How I Tested

I spent two weeks sleeping on Cozy Earth's bamboo sheets to put them to the test. Throughout the process, I evaluated them at every stage: unboxing, washing and drying, making the bed and, of course, sleeping on them.

Unboxing: I loved that these sheets arrived with minimal plastic packaging. They came in a lined canvas tote bag. As a tote bag connoisseur, I will say the leather handles, brass detailing, a front pocket and a zipper closure made this a cute and quality tote. I can definitely see myself reusing the tote for errands.

The first thing I noticed about these sheets was the buttery-soft feel they had right out of the package. They had an attractive luster but weren't overly shiny. Fresh out of the bag, they were pretty wrinkled, though that wasn't surprising given the fabric type.

Measurement Test: To test the shrinkage of the sheets, I measured a pillowcase before washing and drying the sheets. Post-dry, the pillowcase had shrunk about 2.5 inches. The brand's website notes that the sheets are made oversized purposely to allow for shrinkage, and I had no problems getting the pillowcases or sheets on the bed after drying.

Wash and Dry Test: I washed these sheets according to the online instructions on a normal medium cotton cycle with cold water and gentle detergent. I did not use bleach, fabric softener or scent beads. The sheets held up perfectly in the wash, there were no rips, pilling, snags, loose threads or uneven color post-wash. Many of the initial wrinkles were smoothed during the wash and dry process.

Making the Bed Test: I tested the ease of maneuvering the sheets by making my bed alone after drying. Putting the sheets on my queen-sized mattress was easy to do without assistance. The fitted sheet had extra slack at the top, which is intentional per Cozy Earth's design, but it fit the corners of my deep mattress perfectly. The labeled side tags made it easy to orient the sheet correctly, and despite some shrinkage in the wash, the pillowcases fit well.

Sleep Test: This was the real test. I slept on these sheets every night for two weeks, keeping my room temperature and bedding setup consistent. I have both a deep mattress and some relatively wild sleeping habits, but these sheets stayed secure and didn't come loose during the night, an issue I've had with other sheet sets.

My Review of the Cozy Earth Bamboo Sheet Set

What I Loved

I found that after sleeping on these sheets for a week, when I swapped them out with a different set to wash, I missed them.

As a hot sleeper, I was surprised at how cool and comfortable these sheets kept me all night. Unlike other sheets that trap heat, these were incredibly breathable. I even added an extra blanket for weight without overheating, which is rare for me.

I also loved how silky and luxurious these sheets are. The feel was a perfect combination of the smoothness and cool touch of a silk sheet while maintaining a cozy softness comparable to a cotton set.

What I Didn't Love

My main dislike with the Cozy Earth Bamboo Sheet Set is the price point. Their luxury feel is definitely accompanied by a luxury price tag.

They also can get pretty wrinkly if you don't follow the brand's drying directions to a T, which recommend that you pull the sheets out of the dryer still slightly damp and dress the bed immediately to reduce wrinkling.

Bottom Line: Is the Cozy Earth Bamboo Sheet Set Worth Buying?

After testing, I can see why these sheets come so highly recommended. They have an undeniably soft, luxurious feel, and I can confidently say I sleep better with them than with any other sheet set I've used. But are they worth the price?

Retailing at nearly $350, I wouldn't trade my set for anything, but I wouldn't rush to replace every sheet set I own with them, either. I still occasionally found myself reaching for my Slip Silk pillowcase to protect my curly hair overnight, even though I loved the fitted and top sheet. Of course, the price is no issue for Oprah and Kris Jenner, and I have to admit — I agree with their assessment. These just might be my favorite sheets.

If you are like me and struggle with hot sleeping and insomnia, I can say these will absolutely improve your sleep and are worth the splurge — especially if you catch them on sale. I wouldn't discourage anyone from investing in these sheets, but if you're an average sleeper with no major complaints about your current bedding, you might not need to splurge on these and could find other great bamboo sheets at a lower price point instead.
