C2 Paint’s 2027 Color of the Year Is an Unexpected Color Chameleon
Pueblo, an earthy mauve-meets-brown hue, is meant to change with the world around it.
Sometimes, choosing an interior paint color can feel overwhelming, knowing whatever you go with you’ll have to live with for the foreseeable future. But as I write this announcement in the autumn, I don’t need to remind you that, outside, nature is ever-changing. And just because you pick one paint sample chip from the rack, doesn’t mean that color will remain static throughout the day — or the seasons. That’s the idea behind C2 Paint’s Color of the Year 2027, Pueblo (C2-510).

All About C2 Paint’s 2027 Color of the Year
Pueblo is a warm combination of “earth, rose and brown” that reveals “a different character as the light around it changes,” the brand said in a press release. It straddles both modern style and vintage appeal, and feels at home with rich fabrics and luxe finishes while also invoking feelings of something traditional or antique.
Among the natural, outdoor inspirations for the color choice, Pueblo also draws from a more internal place as it “recalls the natural flush that rises in our cheeks when we are energized, excited and fully engaged.”
“There is something distinctly human about Pueblo,” said Philippa Radon, interior designer and C2 Paint color specialist. “It refuses to be just one thing. There is an earthen quality, but also rose. Brown softened by warmth. In one light it feels muted and grounded; in another, its rosy undertones come forward. Morning, afternoon and evening each reveal something different. That complexity is what drew us to it.”
So is it brown? Purple? Pink? Again, that ambiguity is what C2’s announcement states is entirely the point. “It is a color that feels familiar yet difficult to define: complex, individual and alive.”

How to Use Pueblo in Your Home
Pueblo can look different in different lightscapes, shifting from morning to afternoon to evening and evolving with the seasons. It's that sense of life and naturalness that makes it appealing across various design styles.
Similarly, C2 Paint is accompanying Pueblo with a family of accent colors, collectively called Rural Renaissance. Death by Chocolate, a rich cocoa brown that reminds us of Pantone’s 2025 color of the year, highlights Pueblo’s earthy undertones; Ambrosia plays on the pink tones; and Element, a sort of pastel shade of sage, grounds Pueblo’s warmth in nature.
“At the heart of Rural Renaissance is a desire to feel more, to notice texture, taste, scent, light and the things that make us curious,” the announcement reads. “Nature remains an endless source of inspiration, where color changes with light, season, weather and place. Pueblo captures that same complexity and reminds us to look again.”
