Transform Paper Towel Rolls Into Sparkling Snowflake Ornaments
Turn trash into treasure with this easy DIY. Find out how to upcycle empty paper towel rolls into glittering Christmas tree ornaments.

Materials Needed
- empty paper towel rolls
- spray paint
- glitter
- ribbon
- decoupage glue
- paintbrush
- hot glue gun and glue sticks
- ruler
- pen or pencil
- scissors
Step 1: Cut Paper Towel Roll

Flatten out a paper towel roll on your work surface, then use a ruler to mark half-inch sections. You’ll need 12 sections for one ornament.

Cut the marked sections using scissors.
Step 2: Create Snowflake Shape

Arrange six sections into a snowflake-like shape with the points meeting in the middle. Glue them together using a hot glue gun.

Glue the six remaining sections in between the original sections.
Step 3: Paint and Glitter

Spray paint the ornament in your desired color – we used gold. Let dry.

Use a small paintbrush to apply decoupage glue to the ornament, then sprinkle with glitter in your color of choice. Work a few sections at a time so the glue doesn’t dry before you start glittering. Let dry, then touch up bare spots with another coat of glue and glitter, if needed.

Apply a final coat of glue to seal in the glitter.
Step 4: Attach Ribbon

Cut a length of ribbon, about 10 inches. Glue the ends of the ribbon to the underside of the ornament to make a loop. Hang from your tree and enjoy the sparkle!
