Lego Drawer Pulls

Sick of stepping on the tiny knives that are building blocks? Immobilize a few as playful, bold drawer pulls.

Materials Needed:

  • large plastic building blocks
  • drill
  • 3/16" drill bit
  • screwdriver
  • #8-32 x 1 3/4" machine screws
  • #8-32 x 1 3/4" nuts
  • dresser or cabinet

Choose Shape and Color

Gather a grouping of plastic building blocks, then decide which shape and color is best for your particular dresser. Tip: Large, square building blocks usually have the best scale and proportion for standard-sized drawer fronts. Slim, short drawer fronts work best with large, rectangular building blocks. For white-painted dressers, a combination of different-colored blocks works well for a multicolored look; however, it's best to stick to just one color for all other dressers or cabinets.

Prepare Building Blocks for Installation

Using drill and 3/16" drill bit, carefully drill a hole through the center of each building block.

Attach Building Blocks

Use a screwdriver and a #8-32 x 1 3/4" machine screw with matching nut to install each building block through the existing hardware holes. Note: Be sure to install with screw head facing out since the screw head adds to the overall appeal of the building-block drawer pull.

Repeat for Each Drawer

Continue screwing one #8-32 x 1 3/4" machine screw with matching nut through the existing hardware holes in each of the dresser or cabinet's drawer fronts.
