Add a south-of-the-border flourish to the classic mule with spicy flavor and a new spirit — tequila! Garnish with a lime wheel and a festive sugar skull pick before serving.

Ingredients
- 2 oz. white tequila
- juice of 1/2 lime
- 4 oz. ginger beer, chilled
- pinch of ancho chile powder
- lime wheels for garnish
- sugar skull cocktail pick (*instructions follow)
- YIELD: 1 serving
Instructions
Fill a copper mule mug with crushed ice. Pour in the tequila, lime juice and chilled ginger beer. Stir in a pinch of ancho chile powder.
Sugar Skull Pick
- 1 ready-made mini sugar skull
- 1 oz. white candy melting wafers, melted
- 2 ready-made mini royal icing flowers
- black food color pen
- 6" lollipop stick
Add Flowers
Place the sugar skull (we used these) face up on a plate. Use a small spoon or toothpick to place some of the melted candy into each eyehole. Immediately place royal icing flowers in each eyehole; let stand until set, about 10 minutes.
Add Hand Drawn Elements
Decorate the skull face using the black food color pen. Hearts and flowers are common themes on sugar skulls, and are simple enough shapes to free hand.

Attach Lollipop Stick
Carefully lay the sugar skull so that the flat part is facing upward. Dab on the melted candy using a spoon and immediately place a lollipop stick into the melted candy; twist 1/2 turn to coat. Allow the candy to stand until firm, about 10 minutes.
Party Like the Undead
Garnish mule mugs with the lime wheels and sugar skull pick. Enjoy immediately.
