Given they’re the hosts of HGTV’s Fixer to Fabulous, Jenny and Dave Marrs know how to create beautiful kitchens: It’s their job! For their own, they wanted to make sure it was welcoming, family-centric and suited their 118-year-old farmhouse on the outskirts of Bentonville, Arkansas. Cabinets by Morgan Millworks (painted Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore) boast classic good looks, a quartzite backsplash and countertops are perpetually stylish, and new white oak floors seem like they were always there. The 3-foot-by-9-foot maple trestle table and bench, built by Dave, “is the center of our house,” says Jenny. “Someone is always doing homework at it, snacking, coloring or, this time of year, wrapping presents!”

Windows

Replacing the old single-pane variety with casement windows set higher up means the family can completely take in the view of the pasture and blueberry farm. “I decorate with pine leaves and branches from our property,” says Jenny.

Sconces

While they’re new, from Lucent Lightshop, Jenny chose brass kinds that seem plucked from an antiques store to go with the house. The swing-arms over the windows and the small ones with rectangular plates near the range are timeless.

Open Shelves

Three-inch-thick white oak ones hold a mix of dishes and cutting boards, both vintage and Dave-made. “Doing shelves instead of upper cabinets helps the room breathe, and we get to decorate them for the holidays,” says Jenny.

Table + Bench

Dave milled the lumber from a maple tree that had to be taken down. “The kids helped him sand them in his workshop,” says Jenny. “I’m into the look of natural wood, so he used a clear sealer to protect them.” They found the chairs at the Round Top Antiques Fair in Texas.
