Make Photo Tea Bags for Mother's Day
Surprise Mom with tea featuring her favorite photos of her children. This thoughtful gift is inexpensive and easy to make.
Materials Needed
- coffee filters
- scissors
- loose-leaf tea
- baker’s twine
- stapler
- printer
- white card stock
- thumbtack or pen
Cut Coffee Filters
Flatten coffee filters, and cut them into rectangles.
Add Tea
Add 1-1/2 teaspoons loose-leaf tea to the center of each coffee filter.
Fold Coffee Filters
Fold the longer sides of the coffee filter to the center, mimicking the fold of a brochure. Then, place your finger in the middle, and fold up the two sides to meet each other. Fold over the top, and set aside. Repeat with each coffee filter.
Prep Twine
Cut a piece of baker’s twine for each tea bag.
Prep Photos
Select photos to print, one for each tea bag. Using a free website like Canva, create a printable photo collage with your selected photos. That way, you can print all photos on one sheet of card stock. I made a collage with nine photos and scaled the collage to print at 65 percent. Adjust the scale of your collage in the printing tab before printing. Print in black and white for a cohesive look. Then, cut out each photo.
Attach Photos to Tea Bags
Pierce a small hole in the upper corner of each photo using a thumbtack or pen. Then, loop through baker’s twine, and tie secure knots. Attach the other side of each piece of twine to a tea bag using a stapler. The staple will attach the twine and secure the tea bag’s folded shape.
Gift to Mom
Display your tea bags with a pretty mug and handmade card for a Mother’s Day gift she’ll treasure.
