  • 12 paint sticks (makes 1 star)
  • hot glue gun
  • hot glue sticks
  • acrylic paint or sample paint in color of your choice (we used red)
  • 2" bristle paintbrush
  • jute rope
  • drop cloth

Form Star

Lay paint sticks on a flat surface and adjust to create a star shape.

Attach Paint Sticks

Assemble the star using a hot glue gun. Let cool.

Attach Rope to Center

Using a generous bead of glue, attach one end of the rope at the center of the star. Let cool.

Weave Rope Out From Center

Once the glue is totally dry, begin wrapping the rope in a star configuration. Work your way out and fill up the center of the star. Add a bead of glue occasionally to secure the rope to various points of the frame. Once weaving is complete, secure the loose end of the rope with glue.

Once dry, begin weaving the rope tightly in and out of the paint sticks, working your way down towards the center of the star. Add glue every few inches to secure the rope. Repeat on each point.

Use your bristle paintbrush and paint to sweep color across the front of the jute-wrapped star. Let dry.

Using a dry brush and a little bit of red paint, sweep color across the jute wrapped front of the star. Let dry before hanging.
