Materials Needed:
- round laundry basket
- white, red, pink and brown felt
- brown wrapping paper
- 2-1/2" wide white ribbon
- scissors
- hot glue gun and glue sticks
- white T-shirt and brown leggings or sweatpants
- measuring tape
- safety pins
Create Cupcake Base
Use scissors to cut out the bottom of the laundry basket (Image 1). Measure the circumference of the laundry basket's top rim to determine how much wrapping paper you'll need. Multiply this number by 2 to allow for folding the paper to resemble a cupcake wrapper. Cut paper. Accordion-fold the wrapping paper, creasing it about every inch (Image 2). Attach the pleated wrapping paper to the laundry basket's top rim with hot glue. Knot pieces of wide ribbon around the basket's interior — 2 in the front and 2 in the back to work as straps that will tie over the child's shoulders.

Create Icing
Cut two circles out of white felt — one large enough to cover the top of the laundry basket, the other a little larger than the child's shoulders. Fold each circle in half and cut out a smaller inner circle. Note: For the larger piece, the inner circle should be the same size as the child's waist. For the smaller piece, the inner circle should be a little larger than her neck. Use scissors to scallop the outside edge of each piece to resemble the irregular outline of icing. Cut smaller circles from the various felt colors and attach them with hot glue to the white frosting pieces as sprinkles (Images 1 and 2).

Assemble Costume
Dress the child in a white T-shirt and brown leggings or sweatpants. Have them step into the laundry basket and tie the ribbons at their shoulders. Add the felt frosting pieces by cutting a straight slit in the back, positioning them around the child then securing the cut slit, if necessary, with safety pins.
