Over the years, we’ve fallen in love with the King of Color: David Bromstad. He's the original winner of Design Star (Season 1, that is) and has kept us entertained since. After all, the My Lottery Dream Home host impresses us not just with his bold home interiors but his willingness to be his most authentic self. He’s the first to crack a smile, make a joke or bust a move, and one of the few who wholeheartedly embraces a rainbow of colors and prints, both in his home designs and personal style. Obviously, we’re big fans of David, so we put together nine of his silliest and most charming moments — all of which remind us why we love him so much in the first place.

1. The Time He Told Us to Never Call Him "Normal"

David’s motto? “Don’t call me normal … call me strange, please!” The tatted HGTV host loves to dress in vibrant, head-turning outfits and admits the last thing he wants is to be told he simply "looks OK."

2. The Moment We Realized He's A Real-Life Care Bear

If you regularly tune in to My Lottery Dream Home, then you’re aware of David’s affinity for faux fur coats. “I am a Care Bear! I just need a big, huge heart right here,” he exclaimed while wearing a fluffy, pale-pink coat.

3. When He Turned into a Live Action Belle

It’s no secret that David loves Disney — it’s where he honed his creative skills prior to Design Star. One of his favorite characters, it seems, is Belle from Beauty and the Beast. In fact, to show off his adoration for the character, he hilariously transformed into her with the help of the Reface App. Naturally, more than 100,000 of his fans loved his creation.

4. The Time He Won Halloween

David loves the holidays. He goes all out for Christmas, but we think he might like Halloween even more. Every year he turns his costume (and his much-anticipated Halloween party) up a notch. Here, inspired by Greek mythology, he dressed up as a Satyr and filled his home with the most festive decorations — complete with a spooky Halloween tree, eyeball small bites and skeleton hand champagne flutes. Suffice to say, it was a party we wish we got an invitation to.

5. And Dressed Up as The Most Dapper Cruella de Vil

Here we have another Halloween in which David absolutely ate (that’s Gen Z speak for “killed it”). With impeccably blended makeup and perfect half-and-half hair, David took on the role of Cruella de Vil in the most dapper way possible.

6. Every Time He's a Goofball on Set

David understands the importance of entertaining. That’s why he has no problem posing, shimmying and saying whatever’s on his mind, whether cameras are rolling or not.

7. When We Saw What He Wears to Do Crafts

In one of the few TikToks David has posted, he taught followers how to create pretty tissue paper flowers for spring and Easter. To spice things up, he wore a pink bowtie and bunny ears — and that's all!

8. The Day He Went Western Barbie

The Barbie movie has a firm grasp on us all — including David. Recently, he revealed his Western Barbie-inspired, all-pink ensemble. Fans couldn’t help but swoon.

9. Whenever He Shows Off His Moves

While David’s used to his own weird antics, he was surprised when two of his guests hopped in on the fun. The moral of the story? Don’t be afraid to be goofy like David and dance like no one’s watching — it’s actually quite fun.

Catch David on My Lottery Dream Home Friday nights at 9|8c and streaming on Max.
