These 'My Lottery Dream Home' Buyers Have Bought Three Properties With David Bromstad
They've bought and profited from David's sage advice before. See if this retiring couple's three-peat Florida home purchase is a charm.
Host David Bromstad (from left), Alicia Jultak and Rick Jultak meet to go over the properties they toured together, as seen on My Lottery Dream Home, Season 18.
In HGTV's My Lottery Dream Home, our sensationally stylish host David Bromstad takes lucky lottery winners on a search for the over-the-top homes of their dreams. And in Season 18, he takes a house-hunting couple from Florida on their third My Lottery Dream Home buying trip in Boca Raton, Florida, after successful purchases in Blue Ridge, Georgia, and San Diego, California.
A Rustic Vibe but With All the Modern Amenities

In 2020 and Season 11 of My Lottery Dream Home, Rick and Alicia Jultak were shopping for a way to spend the surprise $900,000 Alicia's great uncle left her. And what better way to put that windfall to good use than a mountain vacation home?
David helped Rick and Alicia find the perfect getaway in charming Blue Ridge, Georgia, a few hours from Atlanta but a world away.
The stunning three-level home, Outlook Lodge, offered generous outdoor living space with a hot tub, a fireplace and a killer view, affording plenty of opportunity to take full advantage of the crisp mountain air. They closed on the home for $765,000.

The couple's only complaint during their time at Outlook Lodge: that the plane ride from Florida and the two-hour drive from the Atlanta airport to Blue Ridge made for a challenging getaway. When they decided to sell, the couple made a handsome profit, selling Outlook Lodge for $1.6 million in one day to someone who knocked on their door and made them an offer they couldn't refuse.
Coastal Elegance and More Amazing Views
For their second ride on the Bromstad Express, Rick and Alicia decided to go bicoastal and find a second vacation home in the sun and mild climate of San Diego.
Their California dream home, Woodson Way, offered coastal vibes and a sense of privacy even in a neighborhood where houses were close together. Even better: The home came with dramatic views of a quintessential California canyonscape.
The Final Chapter: Ocean and Golf and Pools, Oh My! in Boca Raton
When Rick sold his business of 15 years, it was time to find a space with the amenities that would make this next chapter of their lives memorable. Boca Raton is where the couple raised their two children, where they both still live and has the kind of history and lifestyle they wanted to hold onto.
Though Rick drew a hard line in the sand with David (a hard line that came with a wink that told David all he needed to know), asking him not to go over their $2.5 million budget, David knew from his past experience with the couple that there was always a little wiggle room. After all, noted David, "Boca means bougie." The average home price in this beautifully tended slice of Florida is $800,000 to $1 million, says real estate agent Michelle Schneider, who gives David the lay of the land.
Boca Wish List
- 4-5 bedrooms
- A golf community would be a plus
- Entertaining space, including a pool
The options at that price point in the prosperous city of Boca Raton in Palm Beach County are many: golf courses, tennis, backyard swimming pools, ocean views and, often, a boat parked on the waterway right outside. What David discovered about living La Vida Boca is that many of those amenities come with a hefty additional price. On top of the price of a home, membership to the country club where some of the most coveted homes sit can cost anywhere from $100,000 to $500,000.
"It's so much more bougie than I thought it was!" says David.
House #1: Grove Dunes
The lifestyle of a country club without the buy-in fees, this home in a posh gated community has five bedrooms and five bathrooms. Offered at $2.45 million, Grove Dunes is just shy of 5,000 square feet. The sparkling white grand foyer features 12-foot ceilings to make an immediate impact. A large open kitchen, great room and dining area on the ground floor offer plenty of options for entertaining, and on the second level, a lounge area has even more hangout space. An outdoor pool area is beautifully landscaped, though Rick is still yearning for the amenities of a golf community, which he may not get with a $2.5 million budget, David cautions.
House #2: Lago Creek
Jeff Daly
The definition of country club life, Lago Creek sits on a stunning emerald green golf course. But those kinds of amenities come at a price, specifically $2.75 million. The five-bedroom and five-bath property weighs in with almost 5,600 square feet. The entry opens up to an enormous living room with a view of the golf course beyond. And rather than a primary bedroom, this home comes with an ooh-la-la, "signature suite."
"Is this a second apartment?" jokes Rick. "This is gigantic." There is an equally enormous kitchen, a fully equipped game room and a home theater space with a sectional sofa the size of some New York apartments.

The Lago Creek home is flooded with light and high ceilings and offers an impressive view of the golf course outside.
Outside, there is a row of palm trees, more golf course views, a pool and hot tub, and a feeling of endless space and tranquility.
The only catch? When David tells Rick the price, he asks Alicia, "Do you still have the number of the Property Brothers?" Ouch.
House #3: Armadillo Trail
Homes don't come up for sale very often in this highly desirable neighborhood, where deep-water canals offer the chance to park a very large boat right in your backyard on the Intracoastal Waterway and then maneuver it out into open water. Located much closer to the ocean in Deerfield Beach, this charming home brings the couple back to reality and to their original budget. With four bedrooms and three bathrooms, it's the smallest of the houses at almost 2,300 square feet. At $2.498 million, it is also under Rick's "no budge" budget.
Though David admits the house doesn't have the "wow factor" of the other two houses, it does have an open floor plan and a pool, a canal and a dock where you can park a boat a stone's throw away. The bedrooms have lower ceilings and smaller spaces, and transom windows that don't necessarily let the light flood in, but maybe the location and price will sweeten the deal for Rick and Alicia?
And the Winner Is …
Though the budget put Lago Creek above their top-end price, the appeal of this sparkling white beauty on a perfectly manicured golf course was undeniable. Rick and Alicia will end up doing some renovations, starting with creating a kitchen more suited to their needs, but the home offers large rooms, plenty of light and the ideal location.
"That golf course right in the backyard. It felt like we were out in the country," says Rick.
In a first, David is speechless that they have chosen the most expensive option.
But in the end, the closing cost of $2,630,000 was not too far above Rick's "hard line" budget. Add in the $200,000 golf membership, and Lago Creek is a testament to how home buyers like Rick and Alicia can always surprise you.
"I'm really happy for you and proud of you guys for giving yourself that gift," says David.
We check in with Rick and Alicia two months later when their daughter, Sarah, stops by to consult on their kitchen renovation.
"I just want to make it a little more functional for our family," says Alicia. "Take the cabinets to the ceiling, and do one big island."
"We're going to make it our own, and we're looking forward to this chapter," says Rick. "Where we are in life right now, this lifestyle is more of a long-term plan."
Rick and Alicia are grateful for David's third-time's-a-charm help over the course of many years of home buying.
"David, we really appreciate your help. You opened our eyes to a lot of different ideas. And you definitely opened my wallet!" laughs Rick.
"We really, really hope to see you soon."
