HGTV Power Couples Know How to Show the Love

Our stars have some seriously inspiring ideas on how to be romantic. You'll want to take notes.

February 19, 2020

Valentine's Day may already be relegated to the clearance aisle of your local stores, but we're still feeling the love from this round up of posts from HGTV stars about their sweeties.

Even though we know our stars are #relationshipgoals royalty, their shoutouts and dates for the holiday weekend were on another level.

You may not be able to rent out a helicopter for your significant other any time soon à la Tarek, but we think these posts are the perfect inspiration for romantic gestures big and small.

Casual But Unforgettable

Fancy restaurants not your style as a couple? Take a cue from Ben Napier and make your own menu at home. It doesn't hurt that he had help from a professional chef for his epic Valentine's Day date for Erin. If you don't have access to that kind of skill, you can get the same vibe by making a blanket fort and cooking your signature dish ... even if that's just pasta. Who wouldn't be blown away by the effort?

Love at New Heights

Maybe you won't be hopping on a helicopter with your paramour any time soon, but that doesn't mean you can't get adventurous! Think like Tarek El Moussa and get outside of your comfort zone on your next date. You can try rock climbing, rollerskating or even bowling. Doing something new together is a sure way to fan that romantic flame, especially if you have the chance to laugh at how bad at it you both are in the beginning.

Busy Schedules? No Problem

While Ant and Christina Anstead didn't get the chance to spend Valentine's Day together, they still made a point to show each other (and the kids!) some love. Their sweet posts about one another prove that showing a little appreciation can go a long way when it comes to making a relationship work with busy schedules.

Tell Your Story

When is the last time you told the story about how you met your sweetheart? It may seem cheesy, but spend some time reflecting on the early days over coffee or drinks with your partner. If you're expecting like Jasmine Roth and her husband Brett, it is worth writing down the story for your little one.

Document the Little Moments

Sure, we probably have more moments that look like Drew Scott and Linda Phan's first date selfie than their stunning fancy dinner picture. But they're all equally worth capturing. Put any negative feelings about having your picture taken aside to document big and small moments, especially at the beginning of the relationship.

Family Affair

If you've already met (and gotten along with) the parents, why not make it a regular thing to have dinner together with the whole crew? There's sure to be an exchange of laughs and interngenerational wisdom.

Don't Forget to Cuddle

We think Zooey Deschanel said it best with "Hold the ones you love extra tight!" A big bear hug or a night spend lounging with your loved one is sometimes all you really need, after all.
