Ingredients

For two cocktails:

  • 4 oz herbal gin
  • 2 oz ginger liquor
  • 2 oz lime juice
  • (3) 2” springs fresh rosemary
  • ice

Muddle one rosemary sprig in a mason jar using a wooden spoon or cocktail muddler. Add gin, ginger liquor, lime juice and four ice cubes. Shake vigorously. Pour into a martini glass, straining out muddled rosemary. Garnish with the second sprig of rosemary.

When you grow rosemary in a pot outdoors in the summer, it’s easy to carry indoors for the winter. Grow rosemary in the sunniest window available. Clip off weak growth as it appears during the winter and use in cocktails or cooking. Although rosemary is a very drought-tolerant plant when planted in the ground outside, when grown indoors in a pot it needs regular watering. Plant people have a saying about this container-grown herb: “A dry rosemary is a dead rosemary.”

The Garden Lady believes that cocktails should be simple to make, avoid day-ahead preparations, and whenever possible use organic herbs and vegetables from the garden.
