Easy-to-Make Paint-Dipped Wooden Ornaments
Craving a more modern holiday look this year? These dipped wooden ornaments are stunning and simple to make.
- wooden spheres (various diameters)
- small eye hooks
- small finish nail
- painter's tape
- acrylic paints (white, copper, gold)
- paint palette or dish
Add Hanging Hook
Create a pilot hole for the eye hook by tapping in a nail about 1/4" at the top/center of the sphere using a hammer (Image 1). Next, screw the eye hook into the pilot hole (Image 2).
Place painter's tape along the bottom 1/2 or 1/3 of each sphere. Make sure you get a tight seal on the painter's tape along the middle of the sphere.
Using a paintbrush, paint the bottom half of the sphere in your desired color.
While the paint is still damp, carefully remove the tape from the sphere. Prop it in a glass upside down and allow to dry, approximately 10 minutes.
Once the ornament is dry to the touch, loop a 6 to 8" section of string or ribbon through the hook and tie off in a knot to create a hanger.
Hang several on a miniature tree to create a striking and modern look.
