Faux fur will add a bit of texture and unexpected fun to your decor. For the price of one pre-made throw pillow, you can easily make two or more yourself. Using the envelope pillow method, it's even easier to sew a removable cover without using zippers.

You can use any type of neutral color fabric for the back of the pillow. Measure your pillow inserts plus 1/2 inch seam allowance and transfer the measurements to the back of the faux fur.

To cut the faux fur, slip the scissors under the fur and cut only the polyester backing. For the fabric that will be the back of the pillow, measure the length and width of the pillow insert plus 1/2 inch seam allowance. For the length, cut one piece that is half the length and another that is the half the length plus three inches to allow for the envelope overlap. For example, if the pillow insert is 16x16, your two pieces of backing fabric should be: 8.5x16.5 and 11.5x16.5. Sew a 1/4 hem on one of the 16.5 inch sides.

Pin the longer backing piece to the faux fur fabric with right sides facing each other and the hemmed edge of the backing fabric facing the middle of the pillow. Tuck in the fur as you pin.
