Materials Needed

  • (1) 8" x 11" card stock (plain and textured, in desired colors)
  • 2" hole punch
  • ruler
  • pen
  • utility knife
  • cutting mat (optional)
  • 1/4" embossing set
  • embossing plate
  • hammer
  • double-stick tape

Cut Paper

Measure, mark and cut the foundation card. (The dimension for this card is 3 3/4" x 11".)

Step 1 - Cut Paper Measure, mark and cut the foundation card. The dimension for this card is 3 ¾ inch wide x 11 inches tall. Be sure to do this on a cutting matte, work table or piece of cardboard, so not to damage the table beneath with your craft knife blade.

Fold Card

Measure down 3" and make a tiny mark (Image 1). Then, fold the card using the straight edge of the ruler (Image 2).

Cut Hole

Line up the hole punch on the top of the card and press down firmly to make the hole.

Add Textured Background

Mark and cut a piece of paper at 3 3/8" x 7 1/2". Secure into place using double-sided tape.

Step 4 - Add Textured Background Next, mark and cut a piece of paper at 3 3/8 inches wide x 7 ½ inches tall. Secure into place using double sided tape.

Prepare Tag

Mark and cut a piece of paper at 2 3/4" x 6 1/2". Using a hammer, emboss your message onto the card. You can use the ruler’s straight edge as a guide, if necessary.

Step 5 - Prepare Greeting Card Next, mark and cut a piece of paper at 2 ¾ inches wide x 6 ½ inches tall. Using a hammer, emboss your message onto the card. You can use the ruler’s straight edge as a guide until you get the hang of it and feel more confident with your spacing.

Secure Tag

Once the tag is complete, secure it on top of the textured card using double-sided tape.

Step 6 - Secure Greeting Card Once card is complete, secure the greeting card on top of the textured card using the double sided tape.
