Easy Hand-Knit Kids' Scarf and Heart Pin

Materials Needed:
- 1 skein chunky weight yarn
- size 11 knitting needles
- crochet hook
- embroidery thread
- embroidery needle
- batting or stuffing
- 4" x 8" piece of fabric
- fabric scissors or pinking shears
- hot glue gun
- safety pin
Instructions for Scarf
Create slipknot with yarn (Image 1) and tighten on needle (Image 2).


Cast on 13 stiches.
Knit until desired length. Note: Pictured scarf is roughly 3 feet long.

Bind off finished scarf and tuck yarn end in with crochet hook.
Instructions for Heart Pin

Fold rectangle of fabric in half and cut into a heart shape.
Using embroidery thread, stich around the heart shape, leaving a 1-inch gap for your stuffing.


Cut piece of batting or stuffing roughly the size/shape of heart, and stuff the pin (Image 1). Stich gap closed (Image 2).
Using hot glue, glue large safety pin to back of stuffed heart (Image 1). Cover with small piece of felt (Image 2). You're done!

Now you can attach the finished pin to your scarf.
