Lighten Up

You don't have to stick with dark cabinets just because that's what was popular in the era of your home. Give your kitchen a dose of brightness with a lighter wood or a cerused treatment, which is a very subtle lime or whitewash. Otherwise, tall, dark cabinets can make the kitchen feel too heavy.
Loud and Clear

Having a matching cane door on a cabinet means that you can stash a speaker there. Get ready to dance and sing your way through meal-prepping! The cane is a fun accent, but it's also a practical addition.
Trial and Error

Collecting inspiration is a big perk of the Napiers' job. When they see something that works in another house, they use it for themsleves. After doing something similar on another renovation, Ben took the original door from their Craftsman home and turned it into a Dutch door. If you see something in another home that you love, why not give it a shot?
DIY to Save $$$

Erin figured out how to dupe the more expensive light fixture she wanted with supplies from the lighting store. She took a cheaper shade and replaced the black cord it hung from with a metal piece she found at the lighting supply store, then spray painted the rod to match the finish.
Hide the Tech

Erin and Ben created a cabinet system that blends in with the rest of their home to stash modern appliances. This not only keeps counter space free from clutter, it also creates a cohesive look.
