How to Make a Mercury Glass Window

Materials and Tools:
old window with wood frame
drill
(3) decorative hooks with screws
(2) 2-hole D-ring hangers with screws
tape measure
paintbrush
pencil
mirrored spray paint
1 quart eggshell interior paint
spray bottle with water
wiping cloth
Apply Mirrored Spray Paint
Wipe away dust and debris from window panes with a dry cloth. Lightly mist water onto all glass panes, and spray panes with mirrored paint. Allow paint to dry for 15 minutes, then wipe with a dry cloth. The water droplets on the glass will disappear with the mirrored spray paint, giving the appearance of mercury glass.

Paint Window Frame
Paint the wood window frame with eggshell interior paint. Allow to dry according to label instructions.

Attach Hooks
Measure for the center of each window frame at the bottom, and make a mark with a pencil. Place decorative hooks over the center mark, and secure with hardware screws and a drill.

Secure Hangers
On the back of the window, measure 5 inches from the top and make a mark on each outside edge of the wood frame. Secure D-ring hangers on the 5-inch marks on each side using hardware screws and a drill.
