Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt Open Up About How They Met
The 100 Day Dream Home hosts have an unusual meet-cute story.
Brian and Mika, as seen on 100 Day Dream Home Season 6.
Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt are the realtor-developer duo behind HGTV's 100 Day Dream Home. They've won many a competition show: Rock the Block and Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge, to name a few, but we digress.
Before they became HGTV's winningest couple, the two were high school students, seated side by side in … girls' chorus class?
How Brian and Mika Met
The pair of music lovers aptly met in the girls' chorus. "My schedule was messed up," Brian told HGTV. "But I said, 'Hey, take your time; I will sing soprano all semester — because I was seated next to Mika.'"
It was love at first sight for Brian, but "it took me a little longer to convince [Mika]," he told The List. Though Mika didn't take Brian's romantic advances seriously, she remembers the two being friends. (Brian was, unsurprisingly, a class jokester.)
"I would say the timing wasn't quite right then," said Mika. "But we rekindled 10 years after we graduated, and it's been an adventure ever since."
The couple married in 2015 and now lives in Tampa, Florida, building dream houses for clients. Their show, 100 Day Dream Home, launched on HGTV in 2020 — after they sent in an audition tape filmed on an iPhone by Brian's father. Since then, they've starred in six seasons (and counting!) of 100 Day, plus its spinoff, 100 Day Hotel Challenge.
"We're still the same two crazy kids having fun on camera," said Brian.
