Patio Accessories: Ideas and Options
Your new patio is just about finished. Construction is done, you've picked out the furniture, but something's missing—and it's that extra bit of design "oomph" that can only be provided by the right set of patio accessories.
Whether you're adding bursts of color with weather-resistant pillows and cushions, or encasing your whole patio in a privacy-providing trellis or shrubbery, accessorizing your outdoor space can be fun, easy and surprisingly affordable.
Start by giving those tired old furniture cushions an upgrade with some lively accent pillows. A base cushion in grey, taupe or beige will always respond well to a strategically placed, eye-catching throw pillow.
Consider adding a water feature—like a fountain, man-made stream or small pond—to your patio to emphasize the interplay between outdoor and indoor spaces.
You may want to add some plants to your patio so that guests will feel even closer to nature while they're enjoying your outdoor space.
Umbrellas or awnings to provide shade are always a nice touch, particularly if your patio has a lot of sun exposure.
Lastly, you may want to consider a small bar or bar cart to underline the fact that your patio is a place to relax and unwind.
