A few boxes of store-bought scones and some basic ingredients are all you need to create an eye-catching party spread that looks as fancy as it tastes.

Ham & Cheese "Scone"wiches

Ingredients

  • cranberry Wensleydale cheese
  • mini orange cranberry scones
  • black forest ham

This "upgrade" is as easy as it gets! Carefully slice scones in half, then pile high with slices of cheese and ham. Serve cold. Make it your own by changing up the scone, cheese or meat flavors.

  • 1 store-bought cinnamon scone, quartered
  • 4 tbs (or 1/2 stick) butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 banana, thinly sliced
  • 2 oz dark rum
  • whipped cream

Dessert for breakfast? Yes, please! Heat a saucepan over low heat. Add butter and let melt halfway, then stir in brown sugar until butter and sugar are completely melted. Watch closely to avoid burning. Add two ounces of dark rum and sliced banana until alcohol bubbles. Immediately remove from heat. Scoop warm sauce over quartered cinnamon scones and top with whipped cream and another drizzle of sauce.

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 large lemon, juiced
  • zest of one lemon
  • 2 oz. elderflower liqueur
  • store-bought blueberry scones

Want your store-bought scones to look like they came from the fancy bakery down the street? Measure powdered sugar into a medium mixing bowl, then zest a large lemon directly over the bowl. Add the juice of one lemon and two ounces of elderflower liqueur, whisking all ingredients together thoroughly until there are no clumps. Place store-bought blueberry scones on a cookie sheet with a rack, then drizzle glaze over scones and let harden (about 10 minutes). Serve immediately
