Paper Snowflakes Tutorial

Let it snow indoors this year with a flurry of hand crafted snowflakes. Supplies needed include: white paper, pointy scissors, glitter, satin Mod Podge, foam brush, craft paper.

There is something magical about creating art from paper. In one of my previous posts, I shared how to fold and create beautiful paper flowers. This time, I would like to share how easy it is to create lovely paper snowflakes like these. Paper snowflakes are said to have originated in the Victorian era when paper snowflakes were given as gifts.

Paper snowflakes are one of the most versatile and family-friendly crafts to make for holiday decorating. Try using paper squares of different sizes. I also find that a pair of sharp pointy scissors work best. For a unique twist, I even added shimmery glitter. Once made, you can use them to decorate the windows. Try stringing them together to make a garland. You can also adhere them to mirrors or hang them from the center of a curtain rod to mimic falling snow.

Supplies:

  • White paper
  • Sharp pointy scissors
  • Glitter
  • Mod Podge (satin finish)
  • Foam brush
  • Crafting paper
