Warm your guests as the nights get cooler with a kettle of homemade chai tea. Spicy, sweet and creamy, this yummy drink can be enjoyed with or without an extra kick of bourbon.
Serves 4
Ingredients
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups water
- 1 tablespoon black tea
- 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
- 6 whole cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon cardamom
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 3 peppercorns
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 star anise
- 4 ounces bourbon (optional)
Directions
Mix all ingredients in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Turn off heat. Cover. Let steep for 5 minutes. Strain tea through a fine sieve.

Serve the chai tea in a heavy teapot to keep warm throughout your party. Serve with a sprinkling of cinnamon and an ounce of bourbon per mug, if desired.
