Infused with the classic flavors of fall, this hearty pumpkin apple cider can easily be prepared in minutes and will fill your kitchen with a cozy aroma that's hard to resist. Because this recipe is nonalcoholic, it's ideal for kids and adults alike.
- 5 cups apple cider
- 1 cup canned pumpkin puree
- 3 tablespoons orange juice
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1/2 teaspoon apple pie spice
- 1 large apple, cored and chopped
- cinnamon sticks for garnish
Yield: 6 cups
Pour the apple cider into a large pot and place it over medium-high heat. Add pumpkin puree and whisk until dissolved into the cider. Next, stir in the orange juice and maple syrup and mix until well blended.
Add the ground spices to the mixture, and whisk vigorously so they are well incorporated with the other ingredients. Cook until the cider begins to steam. Reduce the heat to medium.
Ladle the hot cider into glasses and garnish with apple chunks and cinnamon sticks. The pumpkin puree will settle to the bottom of the pot, so stir well before serving. Make this warm drink the star of your next fall gathering, football tailgate or Thanksgiving celebration.
Gather your pumpkin pie spice, bust out the spirits and mix up one of these autumnal beverages to carry you through every phase of fall, from football festivities to Thanksgiving dinner.
