Even though designers show their spring collections in September and their fall collections in February, you can jump on some of the trends seen on Fashion Week's runways before they hit stores.

Here are some trends from the spring/summer 2019 shows that you can shop now.

The Trend: Preppy Polos

Polos showed up on numerous runways, paired with Bermuda shorts, skirts, tailored pants and even in dress form. Don't wait until spring to wear one, though. Long-sleeve styles work with mini skirts and jeans for fall.

The Trend: Big Sleeves

This trend from summer 2018 will continue into 2019, so don't feel guilty about shopping for poufy sleeves now. It's one of many hints that the '80s are gearing up for a comeback.

The Trend: "Ugly" Sandals

Divisive? Most certainly. Comfortable? No question. From "dad" shoes to hiking boots, fashion favors comfortable footwear at the moment. (Even flip-flops made an appearance on the runway!) Take advantage of this trend by investing in a sturdy pair you can wear on camping trips long after street-style stars finish wearing them.

The Trend: Ruffles + Frills

Think exaggerated Victorian collars, frilly hems and feminine prairie dresses: The bigger the ruffle, the better. Incorporate these looks into your closet now to wear with trendy cowboy boots for fall and with sneakers (or flip-flops!) in the spring.

The Trend: Highlighter Hues

There was still lots of pink on the runways, but bright green will for sure be the color du jour next season. Designers use bright highlighter hues on everything from bags to evening gowns. This trend isn't for everyone, but if you want to brighten up your winter wardrobe, consider adding a vibrant turtleneck underneath dresses.

The Trend: Tie Dye

That's right -- your favorite childhood craft is going high-fashion. Eckhaus Latta, Rachel Antonoff and Prabal Gurung all showed tie-dyed looks on the runway, cementing this '60s trend's return. DIYing it is the easiest and best way to try out the trend now.

The Trend: Polka Dots

It's the print that editors, influencers and designers just can't quit. This classic print popped up in multiple iterations on the runways as part of throwback '80s looks or floaty feminine numbers. And because polka dots are timeless, there's no reason not to wear this trend through fall.
