There never seems to be enough summer. Vacations are eagerly anticipated and then disappear in a flash, just as a Sunday barbecue seems to end as fast as it began. Sure, heat and humidity can be a drag, and fall can sure be cozy, but it’s still tough to say goodbye to the long days of summer. That’s why the late-September announcement from Ace Hardware has perfect timing.
Clark + Kensington, which is Ace Hardware’s proprietary paint brand, announced that Vantage Point (38B-4) is its 2027 Color of the Year. As clear as day — and as equally welcome in any room — Vantage Point comes across like an endless summer that can read as relaxing or as invigorating as you please.
“Vantage Point brings a sense of warmth and character to interiors, offering a versatile blue that feels fresh for 2027 yet timeless enough to live with for years to come,” says Kim Lefko, chief marketing officer at Ace Hardware, in a press release.
Selected in partnership with color trend forecasting partner Colour Hive, the Clark + Kensington design team chose Vantage Point from research that suggested consumers want paints that help them feel at ease and rejuvenated within their homes. They paired Vantage Point’s warm blue with two palettes, Drift and Mellow, to round out the focal shade’s easygoing finish. Drift is more gentle, including the butter yellow of Catching Rays (19B-2) and the beige of Cappuccino Foam (16A-1), while Mellow has richer options like the terra-cotta Charley’s Horse (11A-5) and the earthy gray of Adobe Hut (N-C3). The results are effortlessly comforting, like a summer afternoon that feels as if it could last forever.
How to Use Vantage Point
Since you can pick up Vantage Point at any participating Ace Hardware, and online through The Paint Studio, you should pair that accessibility with a plan. If your favorite memories from this past summer happened while lounging in your living room, then keep those calm vibes coming by either color-drenching the room in this blue shade or using it on standout architectural details, like built-ins or millwork. By introducing terra-cotta accents with an area rug or furniture, the room will still look set for autumn-themed movie nights to come.
Kitchen cabinets painted in Vantage Point are easily accessorized by brass hardware, and this is the type of shade that can complement a wide range of countertops — from touches of bold purple in the stone to subtle cream tones. Frame a dark wood table in a dining room painted in Vantage Point for equal success, and consider coupling this color with a printed wallpaper in a bedroom or powder room. Even if Vantage Point just appears on the ceiling, it’ll still accomplish the feel of a perfect blue-sky day.
