Step 1: Choose a Photo

Choose a photograph for the project. You may need to resize the photo to fit inside the jar you plan to use. Cut out along the edges of the people in the photo to make them more of a silhouette.

You will need to laminate your picture if you intend to use water in the snow globe. You can use a laminating machine if you have one. Or, most copy stores can laminate the photo for you.

Make sure the edges of the photo are well laminated. This is important so that you do not break the seal around the edge of the photo.

If you want your snow globe to have a background, laminate a postcard to stick inside as the backdrop.

Step 2: Build the Scene

Use the lid of the jar to build a scene with the laminated photograph, gravel, miniature pool floats and perhaps a blue hot-glue ocean floor. Attach everything using clear hot glue.

Step 3: Fill the Jar

Fill your jar with distilled water almost to the top. Add a sprinkle of glitter for faux snow. A few drops of baby oil or glycerin will help keep your glitter floating longer.

Step 4: Close & Tighten Lid

Screw the lid on tightly. Shake your new DIY snow globe picture frame and enjoy.
