Easy-Sew Ghostly Chair Slipcover

Materials Needed:
- 4 yards white gauzy fabric
- 1-2 yards cheesecloth
- sharp scissors
- pins
- white all-purpose cotton thread
- sewing machine
- all-purpose sewing needle
Drape and Pin Fabric
Prewash fabric to soften it. Drape over chair, fully covering seat and both sides of the back. If using a fabric with a front side, make sure the front is facing the chair. The fabric should hang a few inches over each side and the front of seat. Pin fabric on both sides, following the line of the chair.
Tip: This type of gauzy fabric can be found with the muslin and other utilitarian fabrics at craft stores.

Cut and Sew Fabric
Trim off excess fabric using sharp scissors. Gently remove slipcover from chair and sew along pin lines. Remove pins and place slipcover back onto chair with right side facing out.

Cut Cheesecloth
Using sharp scissors, cut cheesecloth into 2-1/2-inch- to 3-inch-wide strips lengthwise.

Pin and Sew Cheesecloth
Drape strips of cheesecloth randomly over back and sides of slipcover and pin into place (Images 1 and 2). Using an all-purpose sewing needle threaded with white cotton thread, hand-stitch cheesecloth to slipcover in two or three places per strip (Image 3). Trim all excess threads.
