Our first feelings about a home come from its curb appeal. Paint palettes, colorful front doors, perfectly placed planters, flower beds and more bring exteriors to life. Of course, HGTV stars know how much curb appeal matters. Just take a look at these awe-inspiring designs from your favorite hosts. Ahead: We gathered their best looks so you can try them out at home.

Nothing says quaint country cottage like window boxes. Erin and Ben painted these boxes the same peaceful blue hue as the front door, then filled them with trailing plants for a romantic touch. Columns flanking the door and a brick stoop add extra charm.

Black paint (Black Fox by Sherwin-Williams) and a new driveway completely reimagined the exterior of Jasmine's once-dated A-frame home in Big Bear Lake, California. On the front deck, a custom storage unit stows firewood and adds to the home's mountain-lodge ambiance. Jasmine added a decal to the front window with the home's name, "Hazel's Cozy Cabin," after her daughter.

Keith and Evan headed south for Bargain Block New Orleans, during which they revived this NOLA-showstopper. Natural wood accents, fresh white paint, new windows and hanging porch ferns make for eye-catching curb appeal. Paying homage to classic New Orleans architecture, they freshened up the original ironwork railings on both sides of the front steps.

Front yard meets backyard living outside this cute coastal cottage designed by Farmhouse Fixer's Kristina. A hang-out spot on an elevated patio invites guests to sit and relax. Sliding glass patio doors create a picturesque indoor-outdoor living setup. Metal house numbers add a midcentury touch.

Brian is a pro when it comes to creating an inviting home, and it all starts at the front door. The exterior of the HGTV Urban Oasis 2023 features a classic combination of navy blue and sunny yellow. Intricate white railings and rustic wood corbels add Southern charm to the Louisville, Kentucky, abode.

Property Brother and designer Drew Scott gave the exterior of this adorable Los Angeles bungalow an easy upgrade with paint. Robin's-egg blue freshens up the original front door, while gold-and-white checkers on the stair risers create an eye-catching focal point. A mix of succulents (both potted and planted) add texture and can stand up to the hot SoCal weather.

When Jon was tasked with moving his family's 100-plus-year-old farmhouse down the road, the Farmhouse Fixer host decided to give the exterior a boost as well. Forest green siding and a marigold door reflect the home's natural surroundings. Jon added two paths leading to the front door — one made of herringbone pavers and the other of broken flagstone.

Jenny and Dave gave this 1980s ranch (as seen on Fixer to Fabulous) an English-country inspired facelift with window boxes, board and batten siding and cedar shingles on the gable. They also removed the clunky railing around the patio to create a more open and inviting setting. An existing tree provides plenty of shade.

Because the house had a flooding problem in the front yard, Erin and Ben Napier of Home Town smartly replaced the grass with quick-draining pinestraw and a mix of small bushes that will one day grow to frame the exterior. White trim stands out against cornflower blue clapboard siding, and terra-cotta paint makes the existing front door look as good as new.

Brian and Mika's dream of having a second home became a reality when this 1977 townhouse in the historic district of Savannah, Georgia, popped up on the market. "Savannah's always been a magical place for us," Brian said. While the exterior of the home didn't look historic, the 100 Day Dream Home co-hosts spruced it up with signature Savannah charm in the form of a sage green front door and striking black paint on the window shutters and door frame.

The HGTV Urban Oasis 2020 looks like a mini gothic castle nestled among the trees of Portland, Maine. Brian chose deep charcoal gray paint with a hint of green, so the board and batten siding would blend with its surroundings. A natural pine front porch and orange midcentury front door offer a pop of dramatic color.

Hilary went classic outside her Raleigh, North Carolina, home. Timeless black trim encases the regal brick exterior, while linear sconces on either side of the grand arched front door offer modern elegance.

When it comes to first impressions, Jon let the surroundings of his retro New England lake house do all the talking. The home boasts simple curb appeal: a new roof, vintage sage green wooden shutters and bright red seating in the front yard.

For her own backyard escape in Snohomish, Washington, Unsellable Houses co-host Lyndsay turned an old outhouse that came with the property into a dreamy gardening shed. Two hanging flower pots add a pop of color to the deep gray-toned dollhouse, and a big window lets in plenty of natural light. Tiffany ensured the HGTV Smart Home 2022 in Wilmington, North Carolina, had both daytime and nighttime curb appeal. A high-tech lighting system showcases architectural details, like the cedar wood columns, oversized planters and Craftsman style garage — plus, it promotes safety. A dark-stained trellis over the garage is an eye-pleasing touch.

This charming black-and-white Plant City, Florida, home is a vision board brought to life. The homeowners had been imagining their forever home for decades when Brian and Mika stepped in. White board and batten siding, natural beams, dark shingles and a black metal roof offer sleek farmhouse appeal — or, as Mika dubbed it, "sophisticated country."

To harness an Aspen Chalet ambiance, Sarah and Bryan used natural stone and wood juxtaposed against white siding on the exterior of their Rock the Block Season 4 home in Colorado. “With all the Colorado stone and wood materials we’re using on the exterior, it’s really helping the home blend in with the natural surroundings,” Bryan said.

Jenny and Dave embraced this Fixer to Fabulous home's Americana vibes with a white picket fence, swinging bench and pair of rocking chairs. A stained glass window and gingerbread trim on the gable oozes charm. Bushy ferns hung between the stoic columns highlight the home's extensive front porch.

"I wanted to capture the brick undertone and aged look that a lot of the homes on [Charleston, South Carolina's historic] Rainbow Row have,” Egypt said of her and Mike's Rock the Block Season 3 home. “It came out really great!” A pair of stately crepe myrtles add local flavor to the driveway, while gas lanterns infuse the front porch and garage with character. A curvaceous, wrought-iron Juliet balcony is “romantic, nostalgic and beautiful,” and it gave Egypt the opportunity to add a picture-perfect cascade of colorful blooms. Charleston-blue shutters and French doors provide even more curb appeal.
