Luminaire is the newest Stand Mixer from KitchenAid's Design Series.
The new KitchenAid Stand Mixer leans into French influences in a way we didn’t see coming. While we've always been keen to track color trends portrayed by the iconic countertop kitchen appliance brand, the progression of the KitchenAid Design Series line brews with extra excitement. Just like 2024's Evergreen reveal featuring a mixer with a wooden bowl, the brand is back with something completely new.

What does the new KitchenAid Design Series mixer look like?
The new Luminaire Tilt-Head Stand Mixer is a functional centerpiece. Features in the newest stand mixer from the Design Series collection show the myriad of ways the brand is focused on more than just color — though, the chosen Blue Peppercorn, je l'aime.
To complement the classic French-blue hue, the stand is covered by a textured crinkle finish.
“From a distance it reads more matte, but up close you can really feel it,” Brittni Pertijs, Design Manager: Color, Material & Finish at Whirlpool Corporation, says.
But color is just the start. Luminaire is an evolution of the stand mixer you already knew.
“The bowl was a big focus,” Pertijs says. “Working with glass introduced a new set of considerations. We wanted it to feel just as functional as it is beautiful. We were inspired by traditional pieces like vintage china, cut crystal and French influences, and explored a wide range of how decorative we could go.”
The bowl’s beautiful on its own, but KitchenAid engineered its own hardened glass and pushed the design further than before. Like cut crystal, the designers wanted it to feel like a piece that would already be sitting in your china cabinet.
“We kept coming back to the idea of a glass bowl which hadn’t been touched in more than a decade, so it felt like a real opportunity,” Pertijs says. “At the same time, Artisan Plus was launching with a built-in light, which sparked the idea of exploring how light moves through the bowl. From there, everything came together around that concept — color, pattern and detailing — especially on the bowl itself, with a lot of focus on getting the reflection and refraction of light just right.”
The reflection of light puts on a great show, whether you’re making pâte sablée or displaying it on your countertop. Plus, the mixer could marry perfectly with the whites, beiges, marbles and warm wood tones you might already have in your kitchen.

What are the Luminaire mixer's features?
Here are the highlights:
- The bowl is made of hardened glass. The designers consulted with Italian glass manufacturers to craft a bowl that’s reliable and offers scratch resistance.
- The stand is a classic shade of blue, “Blue Peppercorn.” The finish has a slight texture described as “crinkled.”
- It has an integrated light. Functionality at its finest, but elegance elevated. The team at KitchenAid highlighted the interplay of light and shadow, designed to emulate the effects of French glassware and vintage china.
- It’s dishwasher safe. All of the attachments — a Double Flex Edge Beater, Dough Hook, Wire Whip and Flat Beater — are stainless steel.
