Super Sweet Cabin Centerpiece

Materials Needed
- cake stand
- gingerbread house
- royal icing
- piping bag and tip
- slivered almonds
- peppermint candies
- cinnamon candies
- graham crackers
- shredded coconut
For this crafty confection’s base, pick a cake stand that has high sides to help hold everything together. To save time, we chose to use a pre-built gingerbread house. Center it atop the cake stand and begin covering the roof with slivered almond shingles. Do this by piping a thin line of royal icing and pressing the almond slices in place (Image 1). Start at the bottom and work toward the top, slightly overlapping as you move upward. Finish off the roof’s peak with a line of peppermint candies. Continue dressing up your gingerbread house in your desired style (Images 2 & 3). We recommend tracing the existing lines with icing, trimming windows and doors with cinnamon candies and trimming the roofline with a couple of rosemary sprigs. To polish off the adorable abode, spoon on a crushed graham cracker walkway and a yard full of shredded coconut snow (Images 4 & 5).

If you love fairy gardens as much as we do, you’re always game to put one together wherever you can. Why not as a wintery centerpiece? Line up two parallel curving rows of river pebbles across the center of the stand, then fill in the middle using faux snow (Images 1 & 2). Adorn the additional space with ceramic trees, preserved moss and fairy garden accoutrement, followed by a few reindeer and a sleigh on the peaceful path (Images 3-5).
