Craft a Sunburst-Style Dogwood Wreath for Spring

Brighten up your front door for spring with this easy-to-craft wreath that's abloom with dogwood branches and — surprise! — a pair of nestled faux birds.

Materials Needed

sunburst-style grapevine wreath
2-3 faux dogwood branches
wire snips or heavy-duty shears

hot glue gun and glue sticks
2 mushroom birds
ribbon or wreath hanger for hanging

Prep Dogwood

Using heavy-duty shears or wire cutters, cut faux dogwood branches into small sections that are just a bit shorter than the wreath's grapevine branches (Images 1 and 2).

Begin Gluing to Wreath

Working in small sections, add hot glue to faux dogwood branch's ends, then attach to wreath form, tucking the glued ends into the wreath form.

Continue Adding Dogwood

Working in a clockwise fashion around the wreath, continue adding faux dogwood branches, overlapping the previously glued-on sections as you go (Image 1). Also add a drop of hot glue to any mid-stem areas, if necessary (Image 2).

Add Birds

Glue or clip (if clips are present) birds to the center bottom of the wreath, nestled together as a pair.

Hang Finished Wreath

Loop decorative ribbon around the top of wreath and hang on front door (Image 1). Tip: If your door has enough clearance at the top, you can just secure the ribbon's ends to the top of the door with a flat tack (Image 2). Display your finished wreath on either a covered porch or indoors for a springy touch you can display year after year (Image 3).
