Behr's 2027 Color of the Year is an olive green hue called Grounded.
Layered amidst the colors of nature, you'll find Behr Paint's 2027 Color of the Year: Grounded (T27-01). It's no coincidence the mossy, olive shade — which is brand new for Behr — evokes a restorative essence. Grounded, as its name suggests, is meant to bring us back to our roots and elicit feelings of stability and calmness.
Bringing the Outside In
We all want a home that feels like a sanctuary — real, layered, connected to nature — and 84% of Americans agree choosing a paint color is critical in creating the right ambiance. So, along with the Color of the Year, Behr introduced a collection of likeminded hues.
The Behr 2027 Color Trend Palette boasts complementary shades you'll also find in nature: Warm neutrals like Coastal Beige, Frittata and Hayloft create a versatile and reliable foundation. While the palette's rich browns and earthy greens — Wheat Grass, Radiance, Ancient Root, Introspective, Environmental and Laurel Tree — enhance Grounded's warm undertones and offer comfort and depth.
How to Use Grounded in Any Space
Whether you're color drenching an entire room or painting a nightstand, no project is too small for Grounded. According to Kayla Kratz, head of color at Behr Paint Company, incorporating the shade into a home is as easy as simply painting it right onto the wall. "Grounded is a beautiful backdrop to bring new life into a space without having to change any of your furnishings," she tells HGTV.

For readers looking to ease into a paint project, using Grounded to create an accent wall behind a sofa is an excellent way to change the entire ambiance of a living area. As well, the calming nature of the color would likely work wonders in a bedroom.
One of Kayla's favorite color pairings from the palette is a bit unexpected: "I think about having Grounded on all four walls, surrounding you like a forest, with Denim Light (bright pale blue) on the ceiling to mirror the sky in a very subtle nod to nature."

Grounded is available in both satin and matte finishes, exclusively at The Home Depot. The glossy, satin finish accentuates the color's moss tones, while the classic, flat finish offers its truest register. Kayla recommends using the satin finish on kitchen cabinets — and perhaps accessorizing with brass hardware (though any finish really goes).
“Grounded is a reminder that the most meaningful spaces are the ones that help us connect with the rhythms of everyday life,” says Kayla. “The shade ... creates a sense of calm and renewal, making every room feel inviting and effortlessly livable.”
