Known as the original color trend forecasters, Pantone’s Color Institute has a knack for observing societal tendencies and predicting how they will translate not only into homes, but into fashion, product design, beauty and more. In a world full of social media, fast-paced decision-making and general chaos, Pantone has named Cloud Dancer (PANTONE 11-4201) as their 2026 Color of the Year. A true neutral, the breezy white hue invites tranquility and encourages imagination and creativity.

“At this time of transformation, when we are reimagining our future and our place in the world, PANTONE 11-4201 Cloud Dancer is a discrete hue offering a promise of clarity,” says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “The cacophony that surrounds us has become overwhelming, making it harder to hear the voices of our inner selves. A conscious statement of simplification, Cloud Dancer enhances our focus, providing release from the distraction of external influences.”
“We are living in a transitional time where people are seeking truth, possibility and a new way of living,” added Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute. “PANTONE 11-4201 Cloud Dancer is an airy white hue that exemplifies our search for balance between our digital future and our primal need for human connection, a liminal space that is a launchpad for creative expression, as individuals and communities are experimenting beyond traditional boundaries, opening the door to increased imagination and innovation.”
Along with the 2026 Color of the Year, Pantone is introducing a series of color palettes that pair well with both the cool and warm undertones of Cloud Dancer, proving its immense versatility. The palettes range from soothing pastels to bright tropical tones to glitzy metallics. “Cloud Dancer provides the scaffolding for the entirety of these palettes. It will go with everything. It’s truly classic in that way,” Laurie told HGTV.

How to Use Cloud Dancer at Home
Because of its balanced undertones, Cloud Dancer can truly work in any space. Highlight its airiness as billowy drapes or bring out its creaminess by pairing it with warm brown tones (like Pantone’s 2025 Color of the Year, Mocha Mousse).
Pantone is also teaming up with Joybird as one of its official Pantone Color of the Year 2026 partners, to introduce two new fabrics in the comforting Cloud Dancer hue that can be applied across 300 of Joybird’s pieces. The cool, yet inviting tones of Cloud Dancer create the perfect base for a deep sofa that calls you to curl up or, if you crave more sophistication, pair well with a structured arm chair.
