One Fabulous Kitchen
If you’ve been keeping up with the latest episodes of Fixer to Fabulous, then you already know the incredible work Dave and Jenny Marrs are capable of. And as much as we love seeing what they create for their clients, we can’t help but want to take a look around their home, too. In early 2019, Dave and Jenny decided to renovate their kitchen to make it a more functional space for their family of seven. We hope you’re logged into your Pinterest account because you’ll want to save some of these photos for inspiration!

Inviting, Light and Airy
Jenny’s biggest goals for the kitchen renovation were to create a functional space that felt “inviting, light and airy.” White walls, white oak floors and a wall of windows will definitely do the trick. Top that off with Dave’s gorgeous custom-built table, and you have an irresistible gathering space for family and friends. “Our dining table is like command central in our home - it’s where homework, craft projects, computer work, writing, cooking, and actually eating take place … I love that it was built with so much care and will be here, a witness to meals shared together and laughter,” said Jenny.

Dishes With a View
One of the best changes Jenny and Dave made during the renovation was to move their kitchen sink (farmhouse-style, of course!) to the wall of windows that overlooks their gorgeous property. “I can't tell you how much joy it brings me to look out at the animals in the pasture or watch the sun set over the horizon as I do the dishes,” said Jenny. “For a mundane task that truly never ends (with seven people, there are ALWAYS dishes to be washed), this view makes it fairly enjoyable.”

Gorgeous Inside and Out
The farm views are certainly stunning, but so is this kitchen! The quartzite countertops offer an excellent alternative to marble, especially for families who prefer more durable surfaces. They also keep the light and airy theme going, and pair perfectly with the pewter cabinetry.

Open Shelving for Fall
Open shelving doesn’t work for everyone, but it certainly does in the Marrs’s kitchen. Not only do these shelves contribute to making the room feel more open, but they also add a ton of warmth to the space — especially when they’re decorated for fall! “I wanted a moody look that incorporated the natural colors of the season: varying shades of green, copper, peach, cream and natural wood tones,” said Jenny.
Expert Advice
Open shelving can be tricky and it certainly helps that Jenny is the one outfitting hers with the perfect pieces. Want her advice? “Don’t be afraid to use books to create height, stack various sized framed photos or botanicals, display cutting boards of different heights or incorporate trays for scale (to fill in a little white space without clutter).”

More Details
It would be a sin to talk about this kitchen without mentioning that stunning white range! If it weren’t for Dave’s gorgeous table, it would surely be the focal point of the kitchen. Sconces on either side of the range add additional warmth. “The soft, buttery light they emit just makes me happy,” said Jenny.

But Wait, There's More
After Dave and Jenny relocated their washer and dryer, they were left with extra space right off the kitchen that was perfect for a wet bar. Dave of course built everything himself (hello, wine storage!). For counters, they used the same quartzite as in the kitchen; and for backsplash, they used white zellige tile. So, in case you thought this kitchen couldn’t get any better, it just did.
