- 2 pounds wrapped gold chocolate coins (gelt)

- floral shears

Purchase Gelt Coins
Gold, foil-wrapped chocolate coins are sold at most candy stores and are available for mail order in bulk quantities online. Specialty Judaica shops will carry gelt coins with holy reminders imprinted in the foil, such as the Star of David.

Choose Nested Containers
A large hurricane-style vase will hold a lot of flowers and really makes a statement; however, any two containers of similar shape in a larger and smaller size will work. Note: If you scale up your arrangement, be sure to purchase more gelt coin filler.

Add Gelt
Center the smaller container inside the larger, outer vase. Tip: Attach double-sided tape to the bottom of the inner container to temporarily hold it in place. Next, slowly fill in around all sides with the gelt coins (Image 1). Continue adding gelt till the inner container is completely hidden (Image 2).

Add Flowers
Add water and floral preservative to the inner vase. Using sharp scissors or floral shears, trim all stems so both the greenery and blooms are about as tall as the outer vase. Add cut stems to the inner, water-filled vase. Tip: Always cut fresh flower stems at a 45-degree angle so the blooms can better draw up water, helping them stay fresh longer.

Add to Your Hanukkah Table
Place your completed centerpiece on the table for a lovely decoration to brighten up all eight days of the Festival of Lights. Tip: To keep the flowers looking their best, change the water every few days and remove any spent blooms.
