Houseplants are only as healthy as the soil in which they’re grown, so plant parents should pay particular attention to the potting soil they choose for their babies.
“Soil isn’t just dirt, it’s a living ecosystem that directly affects how your plant breathes, drinks and eats,” premium potting soil brand Rosy Soil says on its website. “The right soil supports strong roots, balances moisture and provides essential nutrients in a way your plant can actually use.”
Few people know more about growing healthy plants than author, interior and plant stylist, and content creator Hilton Carter. So it’s exciting news that Rosy Soil has just collaborated with Carter to create a new limited-edition potting soil — Hilton Carter’s Signature Mix — that is optimized to support Hilton’s go-to growing methods.

What is Hilton Carter’s Signature Mix?
The limited-edition potting soil was developed by Carter and Rosy Soil based on the way the plantfluencer grows his own plants. The brands collaborated over the course of about six months, working to refine the formula to reflect the ingredients and growing characteristics Carter prefers in a houseplant mix.
“Hilton had been blending several Rosy mixes together to create his own custom recipe,” Rosy Soil tells HGTV. “The final product is a biochar-powered, peat-free mix designed to deliver the drainage, aeration and moisture balance he looks for in his personal collection.”
What does Carter say about the collaboration?
“One thing people often ask is why do I bring so many plants into the spaces I create?” Carter says in an Instagram post announcing the collaboration, noting that his affinity for greenery has “never really been about filling empty corners” but rather about “creating spaces that feel alive, peaceful and connected to nature.”
Carter says he’s long contended that healthy soil is essential to growing healthy plants.
“So when I got the opportunity to make my own mix, I wanted one that supports strong roots, holds just the right amount of moisture and stays light and breathable over time,” he says. “Because when the foundation is right, everything above the soil line flourishes.”

What does Rosy Soil Founder Chad Massura say about the collab?
Massura calls Carter a “longtime friend of the brand and one of the most thoughtful plant people we know.”
The soil collaboration, he adds, “wasn't about putting a name on a bag. It was about taking the mix [Carter had] already been creating for himself and refining it together into something we could share with plant lovers everywhere."
How can you get Hilton Carter’s Signature Mix?
