Encased in glass, the 7' x 4' shower stall boasts glass tile-clad walls set in a pattern custom-randomized by interior designer Lindsay Pumpa. The undulating pattern of man-made stone tile flooring extends the apartment's subtle water theme.

Glass subway tile used as accent in the shower surround forms the floor-to-ceiling backsplash above the furniture-style vanity.

A multifunction hand shower in polished chrome conserves water while offering wide, medium and concentrated spray coverage.

"I wanted the shower to make a real design statement," says Lindsay. "I used multiple textures, stones, tiles and color shades, hand-selected a mosaic pattern, and made sure our plumbing fixtures were just as modern as the rest of the apartment. And after putting in all that time and thought, how could you possibly hide it behind frosted glass?"

A 6-foot-long lacquered vanity, encased in matte marble, offers his and hers sinks as well as a backlit vanity mirror. The traditional cabinet face is modernized with linear pulls.

"I didn't want to see the same white sink you see everywhere else," says Lindsay when discussing her selection of spun-glass vessel sinks. A subtle ripple effect in the glass surface references the apartment's water theme.

The double vanity, wrapped in marble, offers four storage drawers and two two-door cabinets ideal for under-counter storage.

Weathered gray flooring informed the bathroom's muted color palette. Glass tile lends a hint of shimmer and glamour.

"The backlight on the vanity was just another way to add some ambient mood lighting, for those times when you need just a soft light to relax, too, without being overwhelmed by overhead or sunlight," says Lindsay. "It also does a great job of showcasing the tilework going up the walls."

Weathered gray oak flooring extends into the walk-in closet, as well as the privacy closet, where opposing walls are clad in horizontal planks of wood flooring.

Sepia-tone prints lend an urban sensibility to bathroom interiors. Images are reflected in the main bath vanity mirror when the closet door is opened.
