A welcoming space just steps inside the street-level entrance offers hints to the home's overall design scheme. A subtle circle theme lends a contemporary aesthetic.

"Golden Dawn," an oil painting by Roswell, Ga., artist Patrick Taylor, serves as the room's focal point. The piece was selected by house planner Jack Thomasson for its resemblance to the Serenbe community.

A circle theme is conveyed through the design of both an area rug and the green upholstery covering a club chair.

Using a long level and notching the placement of tacks as he worked, carpenter David Brown studded wall surfaces with decorative nailheads. "On upholstery, it's a traditional application. Instead we used them on the walls and it became contemporary, cool and edgy," says interior designer Linda Woodrum.
