The Crafty Lumberjacks' NYC Apartment Is Haunted Perfection

You may know Dennis Setteducati and Andrew Boza a little better by their HGTV Handmade moniker: The Crafty Lumberjacks. For these DIY beardos, Halloween is seriously fun business. Every room of their Queens, New York, apartment is decorated for the holiday. Take a look.

Dennis says Andrew likes to add eyeballs to everything. And we have to say, the light-up eyeballs on this skull door decoration really take the bug-infested bones over the top in the best possible way.

The hallway may not quite be a hallway of doom, but definitely a hallway of creepy delight. Each year the Craftys go all-in on their hallway "experience." This year's theme is a haunted hotel. OooooOOOoooooh!

Down at the end of the purple-hued hall waits a bellhop skeleton with keys to your room. The Craftys repurposed a canvas frame from an HGTV Handmade project, added some acrylic sheets and splattered with paint to make a faux curtained window for this poor lost soul to sit by.

Dennis says for Halloween, "We can go all out and get away with anything and it will look awesome." This guestbook and skeleton key are definitely "all out" and we love it.

This is such a genius DIY touch for the haunted hallway. The crafty pair found these plastic bowls at the dollar store, cut them in half and made impromtu sconces. Add a little paint and a battery-powered tea candle (and spiderwebs, of course) and voila! Mood lighting magic.

This painting came from Andrew's family home but it no doubt looks ten times creepier in this setting than it did in Mom's basement.

If there's one thing that sets an HGTV crafter apart from all the other crafty Katies out there, it is their eagerness to go the extra mile. Andrew rightly claims, "There are no rules for Halloween!" In who else's home are you going to find a Halloween tree other than an HGTV Handmade home?

Andrew and Dennis' living room Halloween decor is set by their tree's theme. This year's look is "psychic/fortune teller."

This Halloween tree took a full two months to plan and decorate. Each ornament was made by hand by the Craftys and placed precisely for the ultimate creep factor, like these craft store tarot cards being held by skeletal fortune teller fingers.

Around the base of the tree, Andrew and Dennis placed battery-operated candles, a book of spells and a handmade Ouija board.

If you've got little ones around or just don't like gore, take The Craftys' lead and decorate with a lighthearted touch. "I'd say our vibe is classic Halloween with whimsy," Andrew explains.

What do you do when you've got extra coffin wreaths lying around? You upcycle! When they're shooting videos, the Crafty Lumberjacks often end up with extras. They found themselves with two coffin wreaths and used them to frame their sofa with the prettiest skeletons (eyeballs included).

Years of collecting Halloween doodads has left the Craftys with the perfect bowl full of fun. These little wind up toys are left out on the coffee table for guests to play with as they wish. Though, we suspect Dennis and Andrew might be the ones who do the most playing.

This ghostly globe was probably meant to be a Christmas decoration. But flip a plastic ball on its head, add a little alcohol ink and insert a skull and you've got yourself the ultimate Halloween decor.

"We have some staples in the apartment like our zombie prom (Judy) garland," say the Craftys. While your own decorations may not be as cleverly named, keep them around year to year and use new themes to change how you'll use them.

We think we recognize the Craftys' lab scientist from 2017's "Weird Science" theme making a reappearance this year emerging from a vintage TV set.

If you're on the fence about whether your decorations are complete, add a cat. Even though the Craftys' cat isn't a black cat, it does really add a little something to this skeleton scene. Of course, we think a cat makes a good accent to any holiday you'll have, especially if yours will pose like this.

Bats are a Halloween standby, but the Craftys' bat hung just-so on their mirror adds a little extra creep-factor as a skeleton.

No room in Dennis and Andrew's apartment is safe from Halloween decor, not even the bathroom. They decked out their lavatory in a laboratory theme with "poison" viles and other menacing tinctures.

Halloweens of your youth probably looked a lot like the "kitschy kitchen" in the Craftys' home. Lots of orange pumpkins and vintage cut outs keep it light and fun in the kitchen.

Black and copper mugs hung in the kitchen carry through the kitschy theme. If you've got a Moscow Mule mug in your bar cart, use it for a Halloween display. Look close and you'll even see a Murder, She Wrote mug.

Not even the cat's food station gets a pass in the Craftys' home. If you live in an apartment, too, and don't have a yard for a fake cemetary bring the graveyard inside.
