Handmade Stocking Advent Calendar
Add excitement to present-giving with this easy Advent calendar. You can hang it on a mantelpiece, stair banisters or Christmas tree. Fill it with your favorite treats or tiny gifts, and attach fabric numbers to mark the 24 days of Advent.

DK - A Greener Christmas © 2008 Dorling Kindersley Limited Materials Needed:
- an old, plain linen bed sheet or two plain linen pillowcases
- an old gingham tablecloth or two large gingham dish towels
- scissors or pinking shears
- pins
- cotton thread and needle or a sewing machine
- 24 short lengths of twine or string, each about 6” long
- a long length of twine or string
- fabric numbers (optional)

Step 1
Cut 24 shapes from the linen cloth using the template (secure it with a pin if necessary). Cut another 24 shapes from the gingham cloth.

Align two shapes of the same fabric. Sew the edges, but not the top, together, correct sides facing out. Repeat with all the fabric shapes.

Tie each short piece of string in a loop. Sew a loop onto the top right corner of each stocking. Sew on small bows made from the fabric.
